Ok,
This morning it wouldn't start. So i put my foot on the accelerator a little and got it started that way. But it was making a very loud flicking noise, it was horrible! never heard anything like it. I turned the car off, then turned it back on and it stopped but now there is a constant flicking sound coming from the belt area, not very loud but definatly noticable. The car seems to drive fine. Now when in P, if i slowly put my foot down on the accelerator nothing major happnes, but if i do it quickly there's a loud whacking sound(almost sounds like someone getting slapped hard) and then a loud thud when i take my foot off. Also when i do it quickly the car blows a little bit of blue smoke. Whilst driving the flicking sound get's more frequent with speed and less frequent when slowing down. Any ideas guys?

Noise maybe due to worn tappetts or exposed tappetts (due to lack of engine oil) and the blue
smoke due to worn valve stem seals. The thudding with the gearbox when in P I have no idea.

My dads had a look at it, he thinks theres a leak in the exhaust manifold, whats a replacement manifold worse?

At the wreckers i got a quote of around $110, but he sold it to me for the trade price of $75

I'd say there'd be a fair chance of finding a manifold on here for next to nothing. Plenty of people here have or will be buying extractors in the future leaving them with a spare manifold. Might have to pay for freight though. I would also say that if you were thinking about getting extractors in the future, now would be the time to get them - funds permitting of course.
