View Full Version : First Gen Headers
Sup fools yo.. errr.. QLDers have a dynoday coming up and i figured i may as well get headers before then so firstly i was wondering what first gen dudes have what brand headers and secondly what do they think, thirdly where did you get them installed at what price (preferably cost price not install price) but both is fine (since an install is usually 30 to 50 bucks)

I know of a guy who has a set you could buy, and you could install em yourself, easy!
I can tell you more on MSN.

Dont bother, unless you have a mandrell bent exhaust to go with it nick

i just found out my exhaust manifold has a leak in it and needs replacing, is it worth just getting extractors? will these ones fit on my car, i'm interested contact me.

you wont notice fuel econ or power difference, and unless its cheaper than the std manifold from a wreckers, i wouldn't bother man. unless you have plans for the car.
without a propper exhaust and cat converter, extractors on those astrons doesn't really effect them.
ive got 2 1/4 cat back, so the headers would go onto that, plus im planning to put in a fpr and maybe a afc or something lowkey like that which might give me cheap gains, then the headers would go well i'd assume with tuned air/fuel ratios and the bigger exhaust.. its not mandrel bent but mandrel bends are only criticle if your hardtuning your car, you'd notice SFA on the lowkey stuff we'd do to our astrons, apart from aussiefella with the turbs, i'd go mandrel for anything over 150kw though, i just wanna break the 100kw zone
gimmie a list of things i can do after headers that arnt as drastic as a piggyback (warranted an AFC and piggyback are just versions of eachother, one with a lot more features..) but one ive got the headers that'll be the last on the exhaust and intake, since ive got a k&n and the 2 1/4 exhaust and ultraflow lukey, was then thinking a RPW fuel pressure reg. and thought after that just an AFC but if theres something else that i can do that A) doesn't cost $600 give or take and B) doesnt cost about the same in dyno time/install time. give us a hand lads!
oh also, ive got a TP EFI.. so i cant do carbi mods and i cant get a cam.. which would've been my next step after the FPR :(
you can get lukey extractors and you can get pacemaker extractors... both cost around 250 i think.. but the pacemakers are better :P because they're mandrel bent
besides hmmm besides richer fuel/colder air mods, i dont think tehres much else u can do besides a new ecu

Whats wrong with the standard cat converter....?

Well you cant place the MAF anywhere else cause my car stuffs up without the airbox so "colder air" is kinda limited to a pipe being ran somewhere haha, i hate that!
oh and aparantly our cats are pretty restrictive.. i heard that somewhere and i'd guess it was in here, switching to a commodore or some other larger engined cars cat is the best way to do it?
But yeah thats what i'd came to, the last mod i was thinking was teh AFC since my mate im selling my magna too isn't what you'd call car smart, he's what you'd call car dumb so i wouldnt wanna go giving him something with a piggyback or larger, i'm thinking even an AFC might be too much for him to handle.. but i'm sure he'd give me a call if there was an issue, but is it kinda unanamous that headers > fpr > avc is the way to go? i think thats really a limit anyway, how much would it cost for an AFC install vs a piggyback anyone know? theres an e-manage on ebay for 550$ with injector and that other harness so im thinking rather than paying $500 for an AFC i COULD just go the whole hog, but if the install and tune on an e-manage would be twice as much i'd give it a miss

rpw said 350 delivered, get someone on ere to install em for u on the dyno day lol
i'd wanna get the headers and whatever electronic tuning biz done at the same time by the same place and dyno tuned, makes it easier for me since the car would be off the road in one chunk rather then twice in a week etc
anyone know anything about rpw headers? so far ive got someone saying pacemakers are the best over lukey and then im waiting for boostedaussiefella to get on msn so i can talk about the headers he knows about...
Can someone tell me a problem that might be with this (why its so cheap) http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&?ViewItem&item=4503842494 - Its an E-Manage with injection and ignition harnesses.. the rest of the dudes stuff is like asian hello kitty style stuff so i figure he's picked this up in singapore or something for cheap, what you dudes think? (since ive been told i can get this with harnesses for $700 odd i first thought of the AFC as a cheaper item but this is about the same) i sent him a question asking if it was purchased in australia or over seas, i rekon theres something seriously wrong, like it can only be tuned in japan or something like that.

Hi !
A few month ago I was looking at geting the GReddy , that price is actually good but I've seen it cheaper on ebay (new).Of course the catch is you gotta pay extra for the software if you wanna fiddle with it ,which kinda turned me off.The APexi looks expensive when buying locally but once again ebay has some excellent deals occasionally. But I've never seen any references to region specific software regarding the Greddy. At that price you still cant go wrong as some places qoute double that locally (or other stuff for that matter).
