i was just wondering if anyone can read wiring diagrams properly? seeing i'm swapping the auto ecu to a manual one, are the looms the same?

Yesm I can and No they're not (3rd Gen).
The connectors that go into the ECU are a different shape as well.
The engine control harness is also different.
I have spent many many hours investigating this and even started listing the pin assignment differences between them till insanity set in :D .
My quals 20 years in the aircraft electrical and electronic trade and a shipload of auto elec work, Oh and I'm modest  .
More than happy to help interpret anything you want in the circuits.

okay, in that case, Phil, is it possible to make a 3rd GEN AUTO with INVEC 2 shift quicker instead of having so much overlap?

The only thing stopping this sort of mod work is that no-one can seem to get the internal circuits and software info for the ECU or, unless this has been done recently a way other than using a MUTTII(mitsu hand held analyser) to interface with it.
I know some guys were working in this direction when a conversion using a stock auto ECU to tippy was tried. Link: http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6362&page=1&highlight=tiptronic.
So at the moment No sorry.

From what I can gather its more a case of modifying the harnesses.

so i'd have to get the plugs that fit and try to match it all up!? crapp... this was supposed to be easy,... well then my next question, does anyone know how to do this? only other option i can think is give an auto electritian the diagrams (and about a grand no doubt!!!)

Here's a spreadsheet with some of the differences between pin assignments and pics of the different plug shapes at the ECU (TH).
You will also notice by all the blanks that there are quite a few other systems that would need sussing out.
Prehaps it would be easier to leave the auto ecu there and not use its outputs. This would depend on exactly how these outputs or inputs affect engine operation.
Cheers

yeah, i wonder how much difference there is in the auto and manual ecu's? i wonder if the auto ecu is setup without a trans at all, would it still work?
where the hell is the mitsu technitians when u need them?
i wonder if anyone wants to buy a 5 speed gearbox and everything that goes with it.....
BTW does anyone have a wiring diagram for a TJ AWD sports?
PDF, jpeg or anything that can be emailed to me?
Bob
Asylum - someone on here did a manual conversion with the auto ECU still installed (but with a greddy on top or something similar) - and had it working but had problems with the redline..
shouldnt it be just a matter of re-wiring the plugs for your new manual ECU?

yeah i heard that aswell, but seeing my standard ecu is stuffed i may as well get everything as factory as possible (and i'd like that redline too :D)

Hi all!! I am brand new to this forum and hope to contribute when I can. (Computers and electronics my specialty)
Hate to be a sponge immediately but I appear to have an electrical voltage regulation problem and was wondering if anyone might have circuit diagrams for 1995 V6 Exec?
You WILL hear from me again.
