Hey,
Went for a cruise last night n at one stage takin off i let out the clutch n added a bit of revs n all i got was revs & more revs & not mmuch forward movement.
The burnt clutch smell was almost overpowering. Stopped, had a look n nuthin seemed out of place. The first few times changing gears after the clutch still felt like it wasn't disengaging completely, however now it seems fine with just a little difference in pedal feel.
Checked all fluids etc so I was wondering if anyone knew if It could be something other than a worn clutch on it's way out.

Daiken have a good range of clutches. $800 ish to buy :shock:from Repco or whoever , so if you can get trade price through a mate you'll have cash left over to put towards the labour involved. :)
Also, check RPW website to see what they recommend. You can decide yourself whether to deal with them or not.

definately sounds like your clutch is shot. my old car broke the clutch around where it mounts onto the driveshaft so when you were driving along and put your foot down it would rev out. the mechanic said i was lucky to make it to the workshop.

mine is starting to suffer from these symptoms more and more. Sitting in 5th on the highway, plant the accelerator, the tacho will shoot up by about 400rpm while the car doesnt accelerate too much more, then come back down to normality. Its something i can put up with for a while. I dont have $800 just lying around for a new clutch  having said that i reckon im a good chance for a 14 second pass with a new clutch, so i look forward to the time i can afford it :D

yep, youve burnt out the clutch plate, no big deal really, you dont HAVE to spend 800 bux on a clutch, a standard clutch kit is only about 2-300 bux, plus labour to put it in, any mechanic can do it, or if your feeling adventurous grab some mechanically inclined mates and do it yourself, not very hard, i actually have to do one in a mates th in the next week or so,

yeh my mate just did that with his dads help all in one morning for his pintara and he tells me it feels like a much better clutch than the last one he got done "professionally" for $600. Cost him about $250 all up. I am considering "hiring" them to do mine

No, thats not normal. :) I had my clutch last for 170K ... and I only replaced it due to it not holding the torque anymore (after the turbos). The clutch was still in "very" good condition for its age.
I flogged it too! :) I also towed a heavy trailer every now and then with it (for long distances).

when u say flogging it do u mean reving it out or snap changing, doing lots of burnouts, both off the line and 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd. if u aren't doing snap changes (leaving your foot on the gas while changing) you aren't going to wear your clutch anywhere near as much as if u are. my car chirps 3rd when the clutch is cold, but when it heats up it won't. that is the only time mine slips, but i'm going to get a new one soon.

I dont believe you'll need anything other than the STD daikin clutch, and if you have the money then you will NEVER wear out a daikin heavy duty number. about 600 for those HD units.
VERY important you have your flywheel machined and the Step correctly set, otherwize you will have alot of problems  i know, 2nd clutch now and i still slip it
