... the track distance on their TS magna? (with factory alloys or standard rims). This is the distance between the centre of the tread pattern on the right hand tyre to the centre of the tread pattern on the left hand tyre:

[|]--------[|]

Do both the front and rear.

I have been told that the legal amount is 157.5cm at the rear and 158.5cm at the front, however in measuring mine (with 7" alloys fitted) mine is 154cm at the rear and 155cm at the front. However, if I had a track distance of the 157.5 and 158.5 the tyres would stick way too far out of the guards.

So - if anyone can measure this and let me know ASAP (doesnt take long!) :o)

Or alternatively, would the legal track distance be "do not exceed 157.5cm" to prevent the tyres sticking too far out, or would it be "do not have a track distance less than 157.5cm" to prevent the inside of the tyres rubbing against the suspension components?

Thanks!
Kim :)

Forget about such an inaccurate method of measuring. Just find out what the legal limit for track change is in your state, and compare the offset of your old wheels with your current wheels to get an exact figure.

as far as i have seen in the tassie legislation, the only thing about it is the wheels shouldnt stick out from the guard, not that the cops will pick you up on it, well at least up north anyway, mine stick out about 3/4 inch from the front guard
