I just picked up some new alphine component speakers yesterday and intend on installing on my TR in the doors, I am just wondering if I need those spacer things or are they already holes behind the door cover?

there is space for 6-6.5" drivers in each door behind the map holders. once you have cut that out,l you will need to run some wire into the doors for the speaker.

When i did my install, i cheated and didn't actually take the entire door card off. I drilled a hole in what looked like the middle of the speaker hole (i un-did the bottom part of the door card), then use a jigsaw blade to saw by hand, outwards untill i hit metal in each direction. Then just went around the outside to cut it off completely. Worked well and saved the door card coming off :)

Then just throw the tweeters in the stock dash positions and all should be good. do the alpines have a seperate cross-over or an inline capacitor? if they have a seperate cross-over, just put it under the kick panel on each side (thats where i put mine).

nice and simple :)

Make sure when you're installing your splits you do not overlook things like sound deadening and diffusers. They're vitally important to achieve solid sound and they fight cancellation and revrberation issues within your doors. ;)

MDF spacers or baffles, are a better surface to mount your speakers on. Less vibration more music :)
Even if you have space behind them I'd get them anyway. And for $6 or whatever they are they don't break the budget too much. Make sure you paint them. As the inside of your doors get very wet and spacers will rot away in 6 months without protection.

25bucks at supercheap hahaha, where do you run the cables, they will be going to my boot where my amps are.

Im not too sure on TR's someone can fill you in probably. If there isn't a stock rubber grommet running from the door to the frame, then you'll have to drill. And put your own grommets in to make it waterproof and protect your cables.

Make an MDF baffle and screw the speaker into that, then the baffle into the metal door frame. Sound deadening all inside metal door skins is recommended. Mounting the speaker onto the interior door trim is too flimsy. Speaker cable runs through the rubber door grommet, then whichever way you prefer to get to the amp in the boot.
