Hi guys hopefully this isn't anything big yet but my car has started backfiring big time and sounds as though it is running on 5 to 4 cylinders. Anyone had this happen before or know what could be the problem. I'm going to check the plugs and leads and the MAF, throttle body?????????
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers Adam

is it only when u back off, or is it all the time? if it is only when u back off i'd say u have a hole in the headers. my mates falcon had cracked headers and at night when it backfired it shot out flames about a foot. looked cool. he welded up the headers and the problem was gone. ran better and sounded better too after that.

had NRMA have a look better with a second opinion i thinks and we found that one of the spark plug leads was faulty so i have a new set now. Tomorrow i'll see how much for a rotor and rotor cap might get new ones of them too. And hopefully problem gone
Funny thing was it sounded like it was runnin on four to five cylinders. Now those who have heard it, i'm not s.h.i.t.t.i.n. you when i say that it sounded like a N/A boxer with a big exhaust, but with no power. Only had to drive it about 1km so took risk and got it into my garage to work on from there. Will let you know how it goes, gets me thinking that from 150K km onwards you should be changing a few things on your cars

let's just say that when i gave the throttle a little stab and straight off again you'd be runnin for cover........quite loud indeed
But went and got some new topgun leads pulled off the lower intake manifold checked and leaned the plugs, then wacked it all back together 10 mins ago started it up and walah :bowrofl: all good again.
But if anyone knows where i can get a lower intake manifold for 6G72 wreckers or someone then let me know. Feels like the thread in one of the holes is about to go.!!
