This has been bugging me for a while. I brought the car from auction so didn't have anyone to explain how the remote central locking works. But i worked out the button with "I" on it unlocks the car and disables the the imobiliser.
So what does the button with "II" on it do? And it seems to take a couple of try's to get it unlock aswell? is this normal? (i replaced the battery in the remote coz it was dead when i first got the car)

Oh and how do you get hold of a second remote? as i got one key and one remote with my car.

If you want a new remote, need to go directly to your Mitsubishi parts place and they sell them, i think they will code them to your car and ur set.

Not familiar with you remote. You say that you press "I" button to unlock. How do you lock it?
Do you use the same button "I" to lock as well.
Could button "II" be for the boot? For mine, the boot unlocking button has to be pressed twice
within 5 seconds for it to work (thats standard so that you don't accidentally unlock the boot
because you have to phisically shut the boot as it delatches the boot as well.)

My factory remote has three buttons. Top left for unlock. Top right for lock and bottom left for
unlocking the boot (labelled trunk on the remote).

Yeah "I" for unlock, lock and disarm imobiliser (its the factory one). So far button "II" seems to do squat.

If its an after market kit maybe the second button is for something that wasnt installed ie: alarm

My alarm system is after market and came with the car, the remote has 1 button, alarm/lock/enable immobilser and disarm/unlock/disable immobiliser. Pretty basic.

What TRMagna means is that the second button could be for a panic alarm if it was
aftermarket. Only the KJ Veradas and onwards had panic alarm as part of the remote.

Cobra82, does the remote have any writing on the back of it? Can you post a pic of it. Most
remotes have writings on the back. Eg. Mine has:

FCC ID E4EG8DA
DOC/MD 1814 K1919
OMRON G8D-282M-A

My dads old company TH Exec wagon had a panic alarm button :DYep, but was that a factory alarm or dealler fitted alarm. AFAIK Execs did not have factory
alarms, only immobolisers.

My bad, ignore the above:redface:

Mine only has the fcc id number and thats it. Dosn't even have any writing on the circuit board inside it to show who made it. Im thinking it may not be the standard remote as it looks pretty generic and cheap and dosn't respond very well when trying to unlock (although it works fine when locking  ). Did ts exec's have remote central locking standard?

I played with it a bit yesterday but the 2nd button really seems to do nothing.

That could be it since my magna dosn't actually have a siren, so the number 2 button could just be to control the siren which dosn't exist. My old cordia had the same thing (make the alarm silent when you locked/unlocked the car with the second button).

You can do a fcc id search. Go to http://www.driverzone.com/fcc_id_search.htm
and enter your fcc id (just the number and letters part, either in the new 3 - 14 field or the
older field. Mine came up when I entered it into the older search field. It'll tell you the maker
of the device and from that you may get further info from google searches.

The TS Execs only had immobolisers and keyed central locking.

Just got my 96 te and it has a remote, "I" for arming and "II" for dis-arming. But that is only for the engine imobiliser(sp??)

Correct me if i'm wrong but I thought the immoboliser on the 3rd gens were activated as soon
as you remove the key and deactivated as soon as you insert the key as there is a transponder
inside the key fob and the buttons were for locking and unlocking the doors (in the case of no
alarms) and for locking/unlocking the doors and activating/deactivating the alarm.
