Has anyone had their 90,000km service done on their 3.5Litre ? Apparently that's when the timing belt gets changed. I have been quoted around $750 for the service. That sounds expensive, especially when they will also only change the front set of plugs.

I was thinking that if they have to do a lot to change this belt, then I may as well get some Ralliart cams put in at the same time, that way they can do the other set of plugs at the same time and make it a worth-while service. But I think I'll be looking at around $1500

I'm doing all those various services at different times so i don't
get hammered with a big bill.

3 months ago, I got
Mitsubishi to change 3 rear sparks and a fuel filter. $139all up
(i supplied my own 3 NGK Iridium sparks)

today I got Kmart Auto to flush the auto-trans fluid
with Castrol TQM-ST. $112 all up. The invoice says 7 litres of tqm-st.
(My Mitisubishi center wanted $190 to do it)

Next coolant flush, then brake fluid flush, then stupid timing belt.
(I'm on about 86,000 kms)
:)

At 90,000k service following things need to be changed:

1) rear bank platinuim spark plugs
2) front bank normal spark plugs
3) timing belt
4) cam seals
5) water pump (not sure on this as some people recomend it and some dont)
6) engine oil
7) oil filter

Once your engine is open get as many things done as easily possible so you dont have to worry about till next 90,000k's (change all the other belts as well i.e. alternator belt power staring belt, filters, offcourse if you want ralliart cams this might eb the good time but do check for the installing prices before hand.)

prices can varry from dealer to dealer so shop around.

90k service on the magna depends on the engine, 4cyl or 6cyl, and year model.. but it should be

coolant flush
brake fluid flush
conventional plugs changed, fronts on 6, all on 4
oil
oil filter
air filter

4 cyls.. include timing belts, cam and crank seals.. and waterpump only if its leaking, or has bearing play in it.. not likely, as the water pumps on the TE's onwards are pretty bullet proof!

105k service is

oil, oil filter, fuel filter, auto oil, rear plugs ( platinums ) on 6cyl

check the service book, mitsu had a whole stack of different servicing schedules.. u will notice on some it says to change timing belts and platinum plugs at 100k
