Hey i want to replace the engine in my tr (Astron 2.6) to the one out of the V6 TS's ...

1. what is the name of that engine?
2. how much does one cost?
3. do they fit right in? how much modding is required
4. i have an auto, can i buy a V6 TS autobox aswell? will that fit right in?

me to me to, i'm the same thinking of a quick easy power up grade, mine is manual though help!

best place to start would be talking to RPW...or if your really keen start running around wreckers and looking what they got...measure up engine mounts etc. im sure ull be able to find a v6 + manual tranny easy...

When i was looking for en engine i found a 3.5L with tip-tronic for $2500.

Im not sure if they use the same mounting points as the V6. I've heard they do and I've heard they don't both from reputable sources...so I'm really stuck as to what to believe.

Get yourself a manual box for it too.

Wont be expensive as it has a lot of k's on it. But a nice recondition will get it back in business...hell it goes hard as even as it is now!

It's got 258,000 kms on it. And a reco will set u back about 2,000 I think.

my astrons 197 at the moment, i will have a small party consisting of me when it gets to 200K

well if they fit, and there cheap, then it might be good, or i might just save up for 18's instead muahha

It is a possible upgrade from what i have heard and i have been told but im not sure whether the engine mounts are the same...

However the 3.0L 12V motor isn't exactly in surplus supply so it won't be as cheap as putting in a new astron which are absolutly everywhere.

It had 216,000 on it when I bought it!

the 4cyl cars have a different speedo and tacho and shit
pretty much the 4cyl speedo goes to 200 the V6 goes to 220
but other than that should be ok
why not do what killbilly is doing and put the 24v dohc 3L V6 (or whatever it is exactly)
unless killbilly wants to be original
then he will prob kick my arse :)
ask around see if it has been done before

It bolts straight in, the speedo is calibrated differently. I have done it, a friend had a wrecked Verada and we re shelled it in to a Magna body, electrics and all. Both bodies are identical.
