good morning,

shopping around on car audio australia, i've found two nice subwoofah amps, i can't really decide...

clarion, obviously the 'big' power output is attractive, but in terms of dampening, distortion etc, it would probably produce less quality sound compared to the xtant.

xtant, as u all know is a very good brand, but i am not sure about the power output of this...i mean, its only a few hundred watts, and that is probably not worth upgrading from my current 300wrms amp.....

what are ur thoughtyys?

What are you running atm? What do you want loud? clear? ported? sealed?
I've heard good things about xtant, but never heard one myself.

What are the specs of the amps?

My thoughts are that you should first forget all about the Clarion. The Xtant is nice but can be a tad hard to get hold off so instead I'm going to advise you go for something like a Zapco 500.1, ARC Audio 2100XXK, Audison SRx1, Tru-Tech T2.100 or Xenon 400.1 etc. Compare the stats and you'll see why. ;)

well, i have two mtx 12" subs in a 1.1cuft sealed box....

specs are as follows (from online manual)

4 ohm 1 x 125w
2 ohm 1 x 250w

1-50kHz
>0.08% THD
S/N >100
Dampening factor: (100Hz @ 4 ohms) >200
supply voltage 10.5 - 15V
fuse 30A

I was thinking of selling the two subs and buying one nice one...then again, i'm sort of a bass junkie
