Had to keep my car at the mechanics overnight.. And they gave me a TN SE to borrow for the day..

Cant tell whats under the bonnet, cause the release doesnt work
But it doesnt have a choke, so im assuming its EFI

Did the TN's have the Astron 2 engines?

Anyway, after having my 2nd gen for so long, its just strange driving this thing. Its got similar things that remind me of my TR, but so.. boxy :P

Cool little cars though

..Just thought id share that with you

ive never heard of the bonnet release failing on these cars. probably the mechanic trying to keep ppl away from the engine since they are only sposed to b borrowing it lol

yeah, the TN's had the astron 2 in them. if ya want to know if its EFI, i spose just listen out for the fuel pump once u turn it to accesories. and there is also alittle ECI MULTI badge infront of each front door (near mud flaps).

how does it go u reckon? how does it compare with ur TR performance wise? handling etc...?

i dont hear my fuel pump when i turn it to accesories......infact ive never heard it at all haha...being a SE tho chances are its efi (do u have to pump the pedel in the morning if so carby) as for the choke all carby magnas had auto chokes any way didnt they
so if its efi its basicly the same motor as ur tr

I have an EFI, and I still had to pump the throttle to get the bloody thing to start.

Not necessarily. I know of a few SE's that are carby.

Yea its definately efi, i only just noticed the eci stickers tonight.. i really hope this thing runs on unleaded, i couldnt tell so i assumed

Compared to the TR, definately lacks in the performance and handling sense. Its slow as anything, its an auto (but so was the TR).. I dont wanna test out the handling around corners cause i dont really wanna mess sh*t up and have to pay for it.. But it doesnt feel all that stable.

The car itslef has done ~260k's.. so that migh explain most of it. BUT the engine is quieter than my TR?? Whisper quiet in comparison And extremely smooth at idle. I need to replace my timing chain so thats probably why mine is more rough..

Over all, the car is good. I like the look of it, this ones just messed up and hasnt been treated well on the outside/inside.

I wouldnt complain if i had one..
Like i said, theyr cool little cars :)

Took me 30 minutes to find the high beams!

Also, it idles at 1100rpm... Thats not normal is it..?

When i go from drive to neutral, it revs itself up to ~1200/1300 then sits on 1100.. That seemed odd to me.

thats a little faster than normal, i've got a TP auto (almost identical mechanicals) and it idles around 800 - 900, but a smidge faster when it's cold

we had a TR at work which liked to idle at 1500+, no wonder it kept dying

Odd. Mine idles at 750-800

manuals should idle around 750 and autos around 850. an 1100rpm idle is called a fast idle. cant remember wat its for, but thats wat mine idled at wen i got the car back from the mechanics wen i first got the car. its not supposed to idle that high.

i got a TP and i have no choke...
well thats cos u got a efi dumbass its all worked out from electronics.......when u have a carby you have a choke cos theres no electronics for the idle

Not necessarily. I know of a few SE's that are carby.
as i said being an SE the chances are high of being an efi (unless its a TM where there all carbys) theres a **** load more efi SE then there are carbys

is for the idle ever since ive had my car ive done and replaced many things for the idle mine sits at 600 when cold 900/1000 when warm/hot, when the a/c on the darm thing idles smoother at 800-1000 why NO one knows ive had many ppl try and set the butterfly and idle to sit lower when its warm but in the end i change it my self as it upsets the ecu and either wont start in the morning or they adjust to sit at around 1100 when warm

when my car idles (the N/A one) it revs up to about 1500 when its cold, then it slowly backs off to about 850.
