Hi All,
Just installed a set of 6 x 9 Clarions in the back window of my TF, and turns out the original grilles don't fit over the speakers anymore/// result= raggedy carpet edges and gaps through to chassis between speaker and carpet edging!!!- YUK!!!
Can anyone help? The windscreen slopes at too much of an angle to lift the speakers up with a custm box, so either need someway to fill the gaps an edge the carpet or.....

dig in with a stanley knife and they'll fit fine ... i done that with mine and looking at them you'd never know there was after market speakers in there ... come up top notch

what vintage magna are we looking at here??
If its a 3rd gen you should have no problems, the original grils fit straight back over, but remember to ditch the new ones you get with the new speakers....

i put pioneer 5way 6x9's in ... my car is a 2002 TJ and i put mdf spacers in as well but i dont know how to put a pic on to show you .... but if your on msn my contact is autocat@hotmail.com ... and i'll send you a pic that i took

I had the same problem when I installed my pioneer 3 way TSA6960's in the rear of my third gen. It is due to the fact the the speakers had a plastic rim that sticks up about 10mm all the way round the rim of the speaker. I found the best answer was to cut the outline of the 6x9 from the original grill (you don't even have to measure as it lines up with the inside of the reinforcing oval on the bottom of the grill). I then went to my local car audio dealer and bought some speaker cloth and covered the grills before reinstalling. I got to say, it looks far better that the stock look.

I didnt realise that the speakers different so much, mine seemed to have plenty of clearance... :confused:
