The new motor for the TP has been delivered. It will be in and running tomorrow.

It's nice to have a Magna that sounds like a Magna... and doesn't use enough oil to send the price per barrel up a couple of dollars!

That is great Gav, will you be along on today's run

Is it a reco or a s hand one

It's a second hand, but all the important bits have been replaced, such as the chains, pump, etc. The compression's still fairly good, it's about 50,000km old.

Nothing besided the swap will be happening, as this is a "Get the car running" moment. The old motor's getting a rebuild for something different however.

And, due to the tranny not mating, it may not make MM04

News just in:

Everything's in. It's able to start, and it sounds like a Magna should.

(Anyone who's heard it would know what I mean by that comment)

Last thing to do.

Won't Idle. It starts very easily, but dies after a very short time (best we've got is 15 sec)

idle cut off solinoid on the carbi? try rev it and see how it goes, if it'll hold 1000rpm with throttle but will die when u let go then its probably that.

Even if its EFI you can still use the same technique. If it solves the problem, then its probably the ISC motor in that case.

It's not the ISC. It won't run properly even on WOT. We think it's either a loose vacuum hose, or the ECU's spat the dummy.
