hey just curious to know what other peoples consumption is (if any). mine seems to use ~100ml per 1000km's with a rebuilt engine (well worn in now) but then again i stress it to hell and back. due to running nitro i have to change it bit more often (5,000kms) doesnt bother me.

doesnt burn it or engine consumes it. my case seems to be the pcv and crankcase blow by. it blows a small amount at very high rpms. i dont plum my pcv valve back or crankcase blow by to my intake let it vent to the atmosphere ive noticed the quality of the oil is better for longer.

oh well i guess i shouldnt complain.

Too much. Waaay too much.

Nah, before it failed, I was using negligable oil with 5000km changes. It did however, lose the contents of the crankcase a few times. (Oil pressure switch, sump seal)

For starters using the nitro will not be helping....

If you have a recently new motor and you have blowby, nitro aside, then you have engine problems, especially for that sort of amount.

Astrons, like ALL engins do use oil, in a newer engine this will not be as noticable as moisture will replace the little burnt off the cylinder walls during normal driving. That is of course providing you are not using synthetic oil.

Perhaps try using Penrite HPR30 for a while and see how that goes

"heaps"

and im starting the think the oil pump is failing
cos the engine feels a bit sluggish until i give it a blip of full throttle (then back to original throttle position) to get the oil goin

 you better sort that out. running out of oil wont effect the car instantly like that tho, if anything it makes it have a tiny bit more power as the parts are still lubed but the pump isn't drawing power from the engine. ide get a pressure gauge to it man

Doesnt burn any, never have to worry about adding oil between services, running 15w/40 oil in it (LPG stuff) and it is dead quiet too. Cant say i ever have problems with it. I found the slightly thinner oil reduced the oil pressure slightly (was a little too high), crankcase pressure has dropped a little, dont get any seeping from the rocker cover gasket (or the bungs) or any up around the oil cap anymore.

about 3 litres per 1000 km yeah it needs a new engine just awaiting the defect sticker
