I havent done a thing to it, not a single thing except the gf put petrol in it and drove it to uni nearly every day but thats only 10 mins away.

Anyway out of the blue its developed alot more power, a tonne more pickup and the fuel economy has got better (8.3l/100k on the highway down from 8.9).

So what could have possibly happened? something became unblocked or something? Its really puzzling me, not that its a bad thing :P

higher octane fuel most likely.

Only if Shell has secretly been putting optimax in the ULP bowser, id doubt it,

And Jellico1, yeah i am enjoying it, but im the kinda guy who'd like to know why.

you need to tune a car for higher octane rating fuel before it will make 1 bit of difference.

probably a little cooler or maybe the the timing slid a little forward or something, maybe a placebo

not really i mean i run high octane fuel all the time i dont touch regular unleaded (it costs like what $3-$5 more then you would normaly pay per tank). optimax is by far the worst. BP ultimate or mobil synergy is quite good. yeh ive played about with timming too but ive run close to ~105 - 108 RON fuel (98 RON fuel with lotsa tolune (paint thinner)) with stock timming to see how it would react still VERY noticiable, advance the timming makes it more obvious.

i always go to big & busy servos that way you always get fresh fuel.
