Some of you might know i was trying to retrofit GTO brakes onto my TS magna.

Well i though i had every part cover and everything sorted till this morning.
The brake guy called me yesterday and asked if i could bring my car or just a wheel down because they were worried that the caliper would hit my wheel. So i went to my panel beater, got the wheel off my car and took it down there this morning. Well he's suspision was right, the caliper did hit the wheel. I would need about a 20mm spacer to fit the wheel on to the hub and clear the wheel. I want to space out my wheels and pump the guards but thats a fair way down the track.
My only option is to get twin spot calipers off the verada's or the pajero because the pistons are only on 1 side unlike the GTO calieprs which have 2 either side, but then would they bolt onto my TS or GTO steering knuckles i dont know.

i am so disappointed because this was going to be the draw card to my car at next weeks Auto Salon, but i guess that will teach me for not doing enough reasearch and buying parts from dodgy wreckers as they have ****ed me around for the past 2 weeks as well.

if anyone has any suggestions on an alternative i can do let me know.

Thanks
Jase

why dont you just put temp spacers in for the auto salon and pump the guards later? are ur rims to wide?

At the moment the rims sit near flush with the guard of the car, if i was to pump them an inch out they would pretrude past the guard and would rub over every single bump. Would look silly without the guard pumped to suit.

can you machine a little bit off the inside of the rim and the edge of the calliper?

Dont give up !!!

I just spent a fortune on my brake upgrade because i saw the rotors and calipers you had !!!

If you cant do it then i may as well cancel too, think of something just for the show.

They might fit over VRX rims im not sure. After looking at an american website www.3kgt.com , it looks like the rims off the 3000GT VR-4 are very very narrow, meaning the thickness of the spoke. I haven't had a close enough look at VRX rims but i believe the problem is that my rims are too thick.

Dan your only changind your discs so it wont make any difference size wise. I changed the disc size, different steering knuckles and different calipers. My only hope is that pajero calipers fit, but then it'll just look like an everyday caliper with slotted discs which means im not doing anything different. I'll pump the guards, space out the rims then she'll be different.

Put it this way, how awkward does it look if you have the GTO calipers in, spacers used with your existing wheels? If it looks okay then you might want to source some cheap wheels that will fit onto the hub with no probs just as a temporary measure, ie. driveable to Auto Salon, then do a wheel change there.

whats wrong with that?

Yeah sure like modifying the structural integrity of a wheel is a good thing..

Also, spacers are illegal. Put them on, have a crash and void your insurance and get a huge
fine as well. Thinning out the spokes of a wheel is dangerous. It reduces the carrying capacity
of the wheel (and I mean dynamic weight). You can get 50+ positive offset wheels. I was at a
tyre place once and this guy comes in and asked for a rim with a dished look for his wrx and
guess what the tyre person said. No can doooo as the WRX and evo's run huge positive offset
wheels in order to fit the 4 pot fixed piston calipers (two on each side). But, got to ask your
insurance company and RTA etc as there's a max allowed for offset changing and I think its
only 25mm each way.
