Damn old woman in an old blue jag reversed into my gf while in a carpark, got all her details, and our car was looking so good too.

Just wondering what i can do, its got to be replaced, I know that i can go to a smash repairer and they can replace it and maybe re-fit the spoiler parts, or should i just go wreckers hopping and hope to get another?

My gf was a little shakey so she didnt ask if she had insurance, she doesnt think so but she did stop and give her details so...

any advice?

Thanks, Meph

BUMMER...
If you got the jag's details then you should ring her to find out if she has got insurance. Do you have insurance? Because if you have then your insurance company can chase them up rather than you. Although for you to make a claim can affect your premiums. Something to weigh up...

Did the police get called? Because for any accident nowdays they are supposed to be called, no matter the amount of damage. i think that is related to insurance aswell.

But I would recommend that you contact this woman to see what she is willing to do, to be driving a jag, you'd assume she'd have some insurance.

I had a colt a few years ago that was parked on the street near our flat, well a semi driver was trying to get out of a driveway and a chick on the road wouldnt move, so he tried to fit in the gap, well as you can guess he cleaned up the drivers side rear guard. Thankfully he left his details, I didnt hesitate to call him, he was good and chose to repair my car which totalled over $2000 because his excess was way over that. Moral of the story, they do the damage, they should be prepared to pay for it.
If you g/f had of hit her, Im sure she'd expect you to repair her car.

Just my thoughts.

No i dont have insurance, havent been able to afford it lately, have been considering getting it very soon and i know what you mean about it being easier to make a no-fault claim.

No the police werent called, very minor accident, no use invloving the police and considering the damage i can't see it being more than $100 if i get one from the wreckers and $300 if it requires a respray.

not sure if she does have insurance as i said, the gf says she looked in her 60's driving an old jag with a rusty bonnet so i dont think she's exactly swimming in money, but id think she'd have 3rd party.

Well ill have to get in contact with her and start looking for elante bumpers.

unlucky man, that might pop back out with a gentle heat and some force from behind. then just touch up the cracks. wont look 100% but it will be 15 bucks well spend on paint

First of all let me assure you the damage is worse than that pic allows.

Ive been in contact with her (the lady that did the deed) and shes asked me to get some cash quotes. First of all im amazed at how many places wont give you a cash quote, will only do insurance jobs... anyway....

I knew itd be a bit, but not THIS much, $680 was my best quote.

Thats a new bumper, either new bodykit moulds or fixing the old ones, and fixing the support bar (which is pretty twisted) and then painting it all.

This car had some pre-existing damage from the pervious owner, the first place i went for a quote wanted to fix all that too, he thinks that was all from this accident and his off the top quote was $1800.... well... maybe if she wants to claim insurance then ill do that :P
