I cant imagine its any different from my TF....unplug the negative terminal for 10-30mins, then plug it back on and let it idle for longer than 10 mins.

why do you need to let it idle for more than 10 minutes? Basically after resetting the ecu what happens most, by far, is that it studies your driving patterns and decides how best to accomodate you. for e.g. if you've got a heavy foot, you will find that your auto will shift up later. i don't think resetting the ecu for a manual vehicle would be of much help. i have read in the forum that resetting the ecu can solve minor ecu glitches but not sure how effective it is.

People find that if they don't do this, often it'll stall while driving normally.

so wat ur aying is that after reseting if i want the car to perform better i should drive it heavy footed for 10 minutes? i dnt get it i just wanna reset it to see if i get any power gainds that might have been lost cause the previous owner treated the car like a baby and drove it like a granny. n it was a bussiness car and the thing never got a taste of speed till it hit my hands. so should i reset it then take it for a spin will that actuallyy help?

no you won't get extra power. when you reset the ecu, it learns your driving patterns and assimilates to it. so after you reset your ecu and drive it hard, basically the ecu will identify you as a schumacher wannabe and it will try to accomodate you as best as it can by getting the auto box to shift up later (ie hold the lower gears longer). of course your fuel consumption will go up accordingly. on the other hand if you drive it like dame edna, the gears will shift up sooner for a smoother and less fuel consuming ride.

so yes, if you want a more aggressive gear change pattern, reset the ecu and give it some go (not supporting your inner tendencies to speed here) and you might notice some difference in the way the gear shifts. i'm not sure how effective it is but basically that's what's supposed to happen.
