I cannot get comfortable in my tf seats... I don't know what it is... I think it's cos the steering wheel is too far away. Wish they had tilt n reach.
I'm pretty tall. 6"2 and enjoy sitting back as far as possible... Nice n low... I slouch all day long. And always one hand on iPod/music and one on the steering wheel at 12 o'clock.

In my ford the seats are perfect. Very comfortable and I can drive for hours. In the magna I'm changing them every 10 minutes

Any tall guys had this problem?
atm i got the front of the seat low the rear high, steering wheel down low, lumbar support off, headrest down and seat pretty far back.

Kinda gets better if the steering wheel is tilted down, but then I can't see my indicators or my speed.

I also feel like the steering wheel is on too much of an angle when its tilted up, so the top of the wheel is too far away.

*frustrated!

I'm 6'4" and have no problems, i dont even have the seat all the way back. But i prefer been a bit more upright feel more in control than in the chaple st position.

I am 6 foot 4 and don't have any dramas in my TF, sounds like you need a bean bag or something and a forklift ball steering knob thing ;) My first car was a Mazda 929L and the seats didn't go back far enough, so I unbolted them and redrilled new holes further forward in the rails and that worked fine, but I am sorry, I don't know how the TF's are set up as I have not had to take the seats out. They say when you are sitting upright as a general rule when your arm is outstreched you should be able to comfortably rest your wrist on the top of the steering wheel. But by the sounds of things you need a recliner chair... hey, how about a stubby holder in the arm rest too?
You could do what Hightower did in Police Academy and just rip em out and sit in the back seat.

p.s. I don't condone drink driving.

*Reaches for spanner...

Yeah theres nothing wrong with the car, theres plenty of footroom. But i hate sitting upright, and if i want to sit comfortably (in terms of recliner angle), my seat has to be so far forward that my legs are crushed. At that position my arms will rest happily on the steering wheel and im pretty comfy, but I can't yell at the chicks on Chapel cos my legs are jamming my jaw shut ;)

that pic is hypnotic

the magna seats r not all that great in the TH or TJ's either........

I have driven a few later model Falcons and Commodores and the seats feel firmer and give better support.....

I am 6'2" and I have the seat all the way back, steering wheel up so I can see the dials, lumbar support fully out and the seat about as low as I can stand it......if u think u got it bad drive a magna with factory sunroof u lose about 10 cm of headroom  which for a guy like me who on long drives needs to sit upright at times is a bugger as I need to tilt my head slightly to the left (just enough to be a pain) to go into the space where the sunroof is

the seat support on the TJ does not feel as good as it was on my TH

i would have expected better seats on my new TJ sports .....but for normal driving (i.e. in the car for a stretch of an hour at most) I am ok trading off some headroom for the sunroof

not sure how this helps...i am just moaning.....hehe

Dont you have to bend your back heaps though to reach the wheel when its up and your seats back???

Hmm i got a recaro shop around the corner maybe thatd solve my problem... Then again my wallets empty

And stop looking at babies rubbing themselves... you sick sick man!

peace

Agreed, the seating position in Magnas is f'ing sh|t... I want to just remove the pedal assembly and take to them with an angle grinder and MIG welder to create that much more legroom so I can sit comfortably.

Im not as big as some of you guys, 6 foot but i do have a manual TH and when i 1st got it it took me ages to find the right seat position cause i do like to drive with the seat a bit further back but i found that i was stretching to push the clutch all the way in. also the magna seat have a very low ride height, would like it to be a littly higher so i can put my arm on window sill at shoulder height.

I have found a comfortable driving setup tho, seat reasonably forward so its comforatble when i clutch(altho my right foot gets cramped a bit on brake cause its too close) with the seat tilted back quite a bit as i do have unsually long arms i can reach the wheel ok, no lumber, and front of seat tilted up all the way and back about half way.

i dont think they ride that low, they made the doors bigger to give you that impression. But yeah its soo hard to rest your arm on the window. That used to be my driving position. The windows too high and the armrest is too low...

Maybe i can bolt on an elbow rest???

I don't know how correct this is but I have read somewhere that they modified the TJ seats to allow for very tall drivers - presumably 'modified' means lower cushions. I have a TJ and I'm not as tall as you guys by any means, but I have to use the raiser knobs to get seated right so there might be something to this - maybe on the next cruise have a side by side comparison with a TJ and a tape measure!

i just want to clarify that I have the seat all the way back (or close to it) but the seat-back is not all the way down if u get my drift.....i have had the seat-back a fair way down b4 and could still reach the wheel (must have long arms)......but I have a large torso and a big head so that sunroof is a bit of a problem.....

so sunroof aside I would say its the seat back that I find the most uncomfortable thing about the magna seats more so on this TJ for some reason

im glad its a woman in the pic (she ain't a real looker though)......

phew I thought I was going crazy, good to see someone else thinks the same.
You're definetly not alone. I find that the top of the seat is too large pushing your shoulders forward if you are over 5'10" and the rest of teh back support is too small making tall people slump forward. THe lumbar support is a joke and the side raises on the seat are too soft and end up rubbing on teh centre console.

I reckon some real changes need to be made to the seqts so it loks like aftermarket buckets with adjustable backs then apolstered in leather. $$$ tho so it will take a little mucking around.

When I first drove around in the magna, I had the same problem as you. I would fiddle with my seat at every traffic light, because I didn't feel 'comfortable'. Anyhows, after a while i got over it and just got used to it.

Saturday I went for a 2.5hr drive, and, well the only thing that bothered me was the pedals. I felt perfectly comfortable the way i was sitting, arms, back, head, etc, but the pedals seemed on a bit too far out (close to me) for my liking.

Ah well, its all good, u'll learn to get over it

Hey! I am 6'8 and own a 1996 TS Magna, I dont have much probs with seating etc! Only on long long drives my legs will cramp up, but I fixed that by adding cruise control recently!

I'm 5 11 and find the seating position perfect except that I find the seats too hard (sit in a BA Falcon, they are supremely comfy :D ) and, the seat back rest is slightly uncomfortable.

I don't know if it is my spine but it feels and though my back tends to shift towards the centre of the car as if the back rest is twisted. HOwever I check the seat and it's fine

Therefore I try to sit as far to the drivers door side as possible so that I think I'm making the seat back rest twist back.

Anyone else have this weird feeling or am I being pedantic and should see a back doctor?

so your a bevan :bowrofl:

put your seat more upright and put both hands on the wheel unless changing gears or song, its both dangerous and you look like a little punk

Many drivers with hands at 10 and 2 freak me out, I find them to be very erratic and nervous. (no im not talking about racing/performance drivers)
I feel like a dick driving a car that has such light power steering with two hands. I can drive the thing with a finger.
Most of my Magna driving is just to listen to music, I catch public transport to work and have another car that i drive around to get from a to b.
And putting the seat forward won't help me reach the window.

If you can fit into a charade, you probably don't know the hassles that 'tall' guys have. ;) j/k

i mean put the seat more upright

and the charade isnt crampy in the front, it doesn't have a monster center console to get in the road ;) youll find there is actyaly more leg space in the charade
