Due to some unknown reason, I have a minor problem with my dash loom. (Coupla shorts, nothing major... :liar: )
To replace the loom, and seeings that I have a different instrument cluster, a straight swap with another TP isn't possible. (TP Elites have automatic climate control, and I'm not going to go THAT far with retrofitting)
Is there any difference between the Carby TM Elite dash loom, and the EFI TN Elitedash loom?
(In other words, any difference between carby and EFI looms)

The other question is, how difficult is it to rewire the dash of a car. Can it be done over a weekend?

Assuming the loom that you have will work in your car (and all the plugs are the same) then it's just (!!) a matter of taking the console and dash out, pulling the old loom out, and fitting the new one.. I'd say you'd get this done in a weekend, but it'll be quite fiddly work..

You might find it easier to fix the loom that's in the car, which would be rather easy when the dash has been pulled out..

Have you got a gregory's?

Yes, theres a differance, where the loom clips onto the carby and injectors etc.

The existing loom isn't the best condition. The car is an EFI low spec vehicle, but with the Elite instrument cluster, and a lovely habit of blowing fuses.
The Gregories isn't all that helpful for rewiring a vehicle.

you'll find there are 4 or 5 sections of the loom, one for engine, one for dash, one for aircon ect ect. they will be joined by nothing more than zip ties or MAYBE the black ripple rap they use. i would only replace what is faulty

It's the black wrap.

It is only my dash loom that is faulty. I plan to replace only that, but I do need to find out if the TM and TN Elite dash looms are similar, or the same. I cannot use the TP Elite loom, nor a low spec loom.

Multiple random short circuits. It's costing me a bit in fuses, and it's only time until I test my fire and theft insurance cover. Something I'm not terribly interested in.

Is it an automatic? If so, wait until I've got mine back, and I'll sort something out. If it's a manual, there shouldn't be many problems.

manual, the dash i have doesnt have the gear lights as far as i can tell, with the pulse generator do you have to run new wires or does it plug into the loom in the same spot i removed it from?

We cheated, and fed the pulse generator through the speedo line.

Manual will have no problems. In most cases the colours will line up, or be not too dissimilar. You'll also need a constant 12v power line from somewhere, I took mine from the fuel injection computer...

You should be able to get away if you have the Gregorys manual, otherwise, I'll sort out some wiring diagrams.

Yes. The pulse generator will work in the manual transmission as well. Just unscrew the cable, and screw in the generator.

You'll also need to replace the Oil pressure sender switch with the one from the Elite, and the Fuel guage sender. The rest of the guages operate within tolerance on the analogue gear.

The interior harness on a TM is different to a TN/P simply because the automatic computer is different. I have found few problems SO FAR on my povo pack TP EFI conversion, most things seem to just plug in. (Both are TPs).
