hey guys.

Ok i am having a few problems with my car;

1) the remote for the central locking isnt working. When i push the button nothing happens, no lights no noise no locking

2) when i use the key it only locks/unlocks 1 door although when the car is running if i flick the swich on the door all doors make a central locking noise but it doesnt actually do anything.

3) WHen i put my car into the 'ON' position the little trip computer, fuel thing resets it self everytime and askes me what engine i have etc etc.

4) When i go to start the car it turns over nice and quick but it doesnt start the car till about 10 seconds of holding it on

5) the taillights wernt working but i fixed them :)

6) The RSM stoped working (i completely removed this yesterday in seek to narrowing down the problem)

DOes anyone have any ideas? It started doing this on sunday afternoon at autosalon it worked fine in the morning... I would realy aprciaite help

BTW: when i put the car into the 'ON' position or start the car the engine light stays on for 7 seconds if that helps...

Cheers,
ROb..

hehehe.. probably. Bloody stoner. lol

That could of had something to do with it.. but its not like it is steam so it isnt moisture so i doubt that was it. but it could of been...

hmm, you didn't tell me the RSM stopped working as well. Where does the RSM connect to?

It hooks up to the ECU. It only stoped working when i was playing around trying to get the car running again though. So i took it out

Sounds like it could be an electrical issue. Possibly battery and/or alternator.

I would suggest that you check them first...

1.Ur Remote is Prolly Stuffed,or you just need a new battery init, cause mines Stuffed(Need to goto mits For a Replacement,$60 or somrthing like that)

2.If you want to just open your Drivers side door, twist it once,if you want to open evry door twist it twice,it's a pain,i know,i've been doing it for ages, cause i'm too lazee to get a new remote and lack of $$$ too:doubt:

hope that helps ya

lol.. nah dude. both of my remotes dont work. and even if i turn the key twice it still doesnt lock. The only time the central locking works is when the car is 'ON'...no other time. It just doesnt seem logical to me hence why i think it may be the ignition switch.

Thanks for the advice anyway :)

did u reset ur battery? if so ur remote needs to be reprogrammed

something like put key in turn the key from accessories to on 4 or so times until ur indicators flash....this programs the keys

i have not touched the remote. and it not that im worried about. the central locking dont work at all. even with the key....

thanks anyway. i might try and re-program it anyway..

what did u do to fix the taillights?? is the interior light working? check the fuses under the bonnet, fuse box located not far from battery! call me dumb.. but whats the "RSM"?? when u fiddled with the wires on the ecu, is everything back to normal? and renewing the battery on the car wont cause the remotes to fail.. no need to reprogram if the battery is replaced! also, mitsu state that the remotes with the red/green buttons have replaceable batteries... but f**k me dead... its a ****** of a job to not break the battery support tangs, so its better off replacing dead remotes with new ones!

I would say the electrical connection to your "standby power" is dead. It could be a fuse. This will be why your trip computer resets, the ecu will reset also (and probably why it takes 10secs+ to start), why your remote has stopped working, and why the central locking for all doors bar the drivers door has stopped etc etc.

In fact I doubt anything electrical works unless the key is in the ignition???

I reckon mostly a fuse has gone.

what makes the smoke? have you coated every electrical component in your car in some kind of chemical resin and it all just needs a good clean?

where is this glorious standby power fuse?... :) THat could be it. My interior light dont work no. Infact that day my mate was playing with my interior light trying to get it going. i dunno if that did anything?

THere was something with teh wiring in the white lights. i put my stockers on and they work.

THe interiour light dont work.

THe RSm is a Rev speed meter.. its a digital display doobet made by apexi. All the ECU is now in original state.. and it worked for awhile with the RSM in.

it was a smoke machine... i tried spraying WD40 on stuff, aparently that works.. but it hasnt done anything yet..

Just check in the fuse box and check all of the fuses and fuseable links etc. Easiest way to find out if its one of them.

ok dude.... check the 2 fuses in the yellow box in the fuse box, which is under the bonnet... u will prob find the dome fuse blown! good luck... im tanked

oh so your interior light doesn't work either??? It sounds like it could well be a fuse. From the circuit diagrams, it's most likely a 15A fuse, so have a look in the fuse box in the engine bay and the one on the driver's side footwell. While you're at it, check every fuse (and fusable links, the ones in the clear looking little square blocks that look like mini relays).

its not ur remotes is your car, check every fuse you got and go from there..

Ok, i took 'Black Diamond's' and 'TecoDan's' advice and checked the little yellow thing in the fuse box near the battery. i looked for a 15A fuse as dan said. THere is a 10 A and a 15A. Sure enough the 15A was blown, so i changed it and all is good!!!! THanks everyone for helping. I swear i checked all the fueses but i must of missed this one!

Cheers guys
