gf has a 98 magna, wants it a bit louder, not stupidly loud that its gonna cause problems every week with the cops, went to autobarn and she likes one of the cannon mufflers there, but the guy was saying that if we were to put that on her car we would need another sports muffler too cos it would be too loud, thought i would come on here and ask u guys as you probably have more of an idea that the guys at autobarn
thanks :)

yeah i agree with the autobarn guy, that a cannon will probably be really loud, not to mention droney,

unless she absolutely must have a rice-cannon (understandable, i have 2 sisters who love sh1t like that), then i would go with the popular lukey replacement muffler (kinda quiet), a supercat muffler, magnaflow, redback etc, pretty much are all the same (straight-through design mufflers) , which will all probably satisfy her with performance and noise, not to mention they are cheaper than rice-cannons, and will sound heaps better (imo)

later

has anyone got a recording or can approximate what a redback cat-back system would sound like. im think about fitting one to mine, but dont want it to be a loud noisy little excel/etc.

hey
i used to wrk at an exhaust shop and i kan help you.

a cannon or sports muffler on the original system all ways gives a nice note.
no need to replace the hole system.
replacing the middle muffler (not the CAT) with just a pipe also adds to the depth of the note. doing both on the stock sytem can get your DB rating over the limit.
its not too costly to do any of this but i recomend just replacing the rear muffler with a sports one
go to your local exhaust shop and enquire about the range of mufflers they can offer. to be specific ask for a UNI Sports muffler. there cheap and do the trick.
