Hey Guys

Ive got a 93 Verada with the old 12valve V6, which is starting to show signs of piston ring wear, and a few oil leaks. I'm pondering getting it reconditioned rather than just fixing the rings or valves as its nearing the 200,000kms mark. Just wondering if anyone else has a few anecdotes about their issues with this engine and good places to have the work done and some approx costings?

Thanks for the help,

Callum

is it worth it? would there be a noticeable difference?

At least you won't be burning / dripping oil and blowing smoke. Im sure you would notice a nice pickup in power once its done.

if u were to rebuild you would want to spend the extra $1000 or so and do a bit of work to it so its a hella cheaper

Only 200,000kms, probably valve stems not rings, my car and killbilly's car have the same problem. Cheaper to replace them than the whole enigine. I've done 255,000kms and she's still chopping commodores like she was new :D

same here like TZABOY I've done well over 200,000 and I ate a worked 3.8 commo the other day.

Actually mine's done 258,000

If you do a rebuild do a port and polish too and a balance..will work out to be around 2800-3k.

Worth doing it!
