Now that i have time and money i decided to put in a CAI. The only problem is that after a closer inspection i have no idea how to go about it. The piping is seriously odd shaped out of the airbox and then sorta squares out and then the batterys in the road to stop the piping going anywhere else. So does anyone have a 2nd gen 4cylinder that theyve attached a CAI onto the stock airbox coz i have no idea how im going to accomplish it.

i recently tried this,......and failed

i pulled the existing airbox out and the battery and washer bottle in an attempt to run some 3" piping, but there's nowhere to run it....i was going to run it where the existing piping finishes and use a holesaw to dril a hole and run the piping down into the bumper...unfortuantely i would have drilled straight through a front bumper support....unfortunately there does not seem to be any easy way about it.

me and th smoker were going to give this a shot. i think he said that due to gearbox shape you can nly do it on the 5-speeds and not the auto's

Whats the transmition got to do with it? The airbox is squeezed inbetween the quater panel and the battery and the water bottle for the window washers and sits on a metal plate. Not really anyware to go no matter what the transmition. Ill take a picture tomorrow to show what i mean. The stock snorkel draws air out of the quater panel basically, hence why i want to change it.

the way the bottom of the airbox is mounted doesnt really give u much options for running a pipe into it.....unless u scrap the airbox all together and run a Pod filter i dont like your chances, but hey if u get it done and take pics so i can copy it :P.... bear in mind u'd want piping about the same thickness as what goes from your MAS to your Throttle Body as to not starve the engien of air.
