Hey all,
as most would know i won some stereo gear last week. Now it consists of 220 watt 6 inch 3 ways, but i also have a set of 6 inch splits yet to be installed.
Now my question is would it be worth using the 3 ways alone, the 6 inch splits alone, or combine the 3 ways with the tweeters and all the splits wiring.

Cheers
jase

how about using the splits in the front and the coaxials in the rear?

use the splits as the whole set, that's what they are designed for after all

Ur best off looking at the splits. Splits will sound better than coaxials as the crossovers are a) built to last (compared to coaxials where they are built to be unobtrusive) and most importantly, splits are designed with the presumption that your midbasses can't be easily pointed towards the listener (without custom pods) and that tweets can easily be mounted such that they face the listener. With that in mind, each performs basically the same task. Coaxials are always better in terms of separation (tweeter is indistinguishable from mid) and in most cases splits give better midbass response as excursion into the tweeter is not a factor and the limitations of having the tweeter(s) mounted in the middle of the middle of the cone is not an issue.

BUT... its always important to know what uv got, so give us some models/specs of all ur gear, so we can make a fair comparison...

Peace
