ive just noticed that one or more of the lights in the instrument display behind that vertical selected gear strip has gone. How easy are they to replace? and apart from the fact there is a dead fly behind the plastic that has been give me the irrits, im thinkin of gettin some white dials as well...anyone know where to source them?

cheers

Ive sort of had a similar problem in the past but i think a different thing happened to me. My D light stopped working from time to time and soon after by transmission stuffed up and needed reconditioning. Since i got the new gearbox, the light started working again. I personally cant explain that one, a bit weird to me.

the chick i bought it off (who incidently works at a mitsi dealership) said that the workshop boys said it was just the light, trans was ok. is there a way of gettin into the back of the display? and that fly is reall really annoying....

would it require some soldering or something??

i highly doubt its a transmission problem. Ive got a TR and my D would go on and off, i used to be able to whack the dash and it would come back. Now its totally gone. Just blown or loose.

Yours is probably the same, All you have to do is remove the instrument cluster, and find out how to replace the little globe/globes. they cost $2 so its no big deal.

Just a little bit of screw driver work, and removing the instrument cluster without snapping the trip-ometer thingo is a pain. so be careful.

have fun

dude its just a light globe behind the dash 2 minute job but you cant get the thing from autobarn or supercheap only mitsu but good price though about $3 or $4 and its done.

my drive light on the cluster stopped working so i just pulled out the cluster from the dash, turned it over and you count down the globes till u get to the one thats gone and pull it out. it is connected to a black little rod thing. pretty easy to do providing you dont stuff any thing up when removing the cluster. as for the white dials i have been trying to source some too and i found emtech in SA does a good deal but then someone said to just go to a wreckers and find the sports model which came out with the white dials. this is what i have been told but if its true then it may be cheaper and easier to get.

It's easy to remove the cluster. I swapped the D bulb with the L bulb. It is reasonably easy. It's just that the black surround is really soft plastic and can tear. Be careful and you'll be fine. 2 screws for teh black surround, 4 screws for the cluster, rotate the top of the cluster towards you and she'll slide right out.
