k guys just quickly... Im going in for an auto service tomorrow (saturday) at 10am. Now is there anything i should look out for? (its a 98 tf advance)

Atm my auto is *** used to give me huge jolts every now and then and the fluid itself is all burnt(not my bad i only got the car 4000kms ago. So I havent driven it for a few months (oh the pain) Cos I didnt want to stuff anything up, and I was/am doing audio upgrades.

Now im confident that a fluid and filter change will fix this up, I found a cheap place $99 for filter and oil. But not a full flush unfortunately. Will cost an extra $60 or something.
Now I'm wondering if theres anything I should pay attention to while he's working on the wheels?

How long does it take to drain a tf transmission?

What fluid should he use? (my magna manuals at least a metre away but im lazy...)

What filter should he use? (as above)

How much is a tranny cooler (installed) on average for a 3rd gen. (in case he offers one cheap I might grab it.)

and anything else...

any advice before 9am Saturday will be greatly appreciated

Peace

Tim

If the fluid's all burnt, do a full flush otherwise you are mixing bad with good. Makes more sense to start afresh. It should actually involve more than undoing the tranny sump plug as you need to get fluid out of the torque converter.

You need to use specific tranny fluid for magnas apparently. ATF SP3. Best to use Mitsu's own fluid according to other posts. The genuine filter part code is MD752072 and it is black and has "ATF only" on top of it. Best to double check your service manual.

I bought my tranny cooler for around $99 from RPW. Its about 1+1/2 dvd covers long and only a little bit thicker.

Been meaning to do the tranny flush and tranny cooler install myself but I need to get some jackstands - lowering it has meant my ramps are now useless... :P

K thanks for that. I know a full flush would be better, but either way they're not going to get it all out the way I see it.
So I was thinking of changing it a bit more regularly instead. And saving my money. I'll enquire about it still.
