Is it definately the tappets going on this? My 99TH ticks loudly when cold.. When it starts to warm up a bit, the ticking goes a bit softer then cuts out all of a sudden altogether... Tappets or something else? Also, ive noticed a kinda grinding/whirring sound coming from the motor. I took the air cleaner assembly apart all the way up 2 the manifold and its coming from right in there... It only started recently. Does anyone know what that could be? My cars got 149kms... Damn i jus realised I got so much s*#t to fix on the car, the shocks are sqeuaking a bit, there is oil around the spark plugs to be looked at, there is this loud "BRRRR" sound when its cold and at idle too.... Damn and i wanted to do this car up instead of fix al lthis crap

The ticking is the lifters. Change your oil to another brand ... and it will probably go away (do a search for what oil works for most on here).
