Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum, I apologise if I'm covering old ground. The old TR dropped into limp mode today (remaining in third gear). The manual tells me there are number suspect switches sensors, I have checked the oil it is OK....

Are there any obvious suspects I should check first?

check the autotrans fuse as if this blows it will send it in to limp mode

Try doing a search under "limp mode" or perhaps post this in the 1st gen section.

Its a 2nd gen magna (TR).
I have no idea why it would go into limp mode, to be honest i didn't even know there was one :bowrofl: . Just clearing that up :).

check out the plug above/behind the rocker cover, if the rubber boot is damaged or you degrease the motor the points corrode and can send the motor into limp mode.
