Hey Guys,

My car has been having erratic problems, like stalling as soon as it starts or if it does start it will idle very erratically before stalling after a seconds. However if you leave the car alone for an hour or even just five minutes the car behaves as if nothing was ever wrong. My mechanic pulled the fault codes and the Crank Angle Sensor is recording a fault. Apparently these are pretty muchg the symptoms of one on the way out. Has anyone had theirs replaced? How much am I looking at?

Thanks

Callum

So what did the mechanic say? Mine is on the way out too. Can you just buy a new sensor and diy?

Yep. Not a 5 minute job though. I would need to be totally convinced first that it is not the wiring or plug acting up, before tackling this job.

Haven't had any experience with a Magna crank angle sensor acting up, but I did a Lancer CAM angle sensor - worked fine when cold, as soon as it warmed up it threw a CEL and wouldn't restart when turned off. Seems like the little dears are temperature sensitive once they act up.

it's been almost seven years and we may never find out why the OP didn't ask their mechanic.
