wats a V4??

V=configuration of the cylinders( their in a V shape). 4= the amount of cylinders

eg:V8,V6,V10,V12.

not sure if the magnas are staight 4's or V4's

Sorry mate but the 4 cylinder wasn't built for performance, it was built for economy. Someone had a pretty heavily modified 4 around here but it wasn't much chop against the 3/3.5 litre counter part. Good luck anyway!

I'm 95% sure that the 3rd gens were straight 4's, hell i dont think i've ever heard of a V4, it just doesn't sound right (i'm sure there is ONE out there though, i just havn't seen one :)).

There is no "V4" Magna  and as for mods, there's plenty you can do but they're not really worth it. You wouldn't really be able to reach the performance of the V6 without substantial modding. Selling your car and buying a Magna V6 would be a better option IMO.

thats what i thought

anyways, seriously frenzyd. if your after power sell the 4 cyl and add to that the money you put aside for mods and se if you can get a V6, even the 3.0 go hard.

other wise put an exhaust on for a good note and laugh at our 14ltr/100km fuel consumption lol

the only mob i have ever heard of to make a V4 was ze germans, more specifically volkswagon. They had alot of problems with vibrations and dropped the idea soon after

have you seen the design drawings for the V5?? thats one crazy engine, the V angle is only like 10 degrees... and both banks run off the same head...

Alpha Romeo made a V4 years ago, twin carb adn really smooth, but limited production. :P

Also the VR4 was a model of Galant not an engine :)

wats a V4??

Ok....wat i sed in my last post was entirely sarcasm....there is no such configuration at all for a Magna...or any cars these days to the extent of my knowledge (which is very little)...well if mitsi did one day decide "hey lets make a v4 magna for the sake of it" It would be sheit....

anyway

I do own a TE 2.4L aswell....and there are a few threads on this site which i started regarding performance mods for the TE 2.4L

After gettin a $h1T load of posts....i came to the conclusion, y bother spending so much money on performance mods, wen i cud probably get hold of a much more powerful magna for less the the cost of performance upgrades

Plus the TE is a VERY nice shaped Magna and i've decided that wen i get the cash i'll make it look nice instead.

Frenzyd:

Personally speaking, either do an engine conversion or make the car looks nice instead of makin it fast, cuz at the end of the day your gonna be spending heaps of cash to get your car up to the same level as a 3.0L or if ur lucky a 3.5L

Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

oh....

To those who keep sayin "You shudda gotten a 3.0L" :gtfo: well....your rite in a way but everyone has reasons for y they have wat they have...if u want my reason PM me...jk :D

Ford transit vans had a V4, it's physically a small engine to fit in their tiny engine bay. :D

Reason why you wanna get 2.4L

1. Saves lots of fuel even if your foot is made of lead :P

2. Queensland Transport charge you less for rego every 6 months works out about +150 difference

3. Engine is ofcoz lighter and therefore in theory the car being better balanced....

4. Whack in a turbo and the car goes as fast as a VRX or Ralliart given the right modifications, if you want to go that quick or got too much money lying around

5. You cant tell the difference from the outside whether it is a V6 or not, u can ofczo put a sticker at the back .....but who cares if it is a 4 or a V6?

Cheers

Rubbish. Lots of motorcycles past and present have used V4s. The Honda VFR has been around since 1988 and is still made today; V4 all the way. Great sound, nice throttle response, loads of torque.

v4, v5, v6, anything can be engineered and balanced appropriately.

A 90 degree V4 has perfect primary balance, in fact, which is more than can be said for a 60 degree V6 (Magna).

personally- car entertainment, suspensions and window tint (unless ur car came with window tint), but thats wat i would do.. the 3rd gens do look really nice wen theyre lowered even without a kit on it i reckon.. but also get small parts of the engine done, like exhaust and extractors

if its a stock stereo, get a decent HU.
otherwise, lower it and get a front strut brace.

my prefered order:

1) ICE
2) Suspension work
3) Exhaust/Extractors (get this done at the same time if possible :P )

i was refering to cars buddy, motorbikes arent cars, and it IS true that VW had alot of trouble with vibrations with their V4 engine! Also, i would like to point out that a magna V6 is one of the smoothest V6's going around.. but anyway..
