Hey I own a TR auto, And I LOVE! my Magna, But I want more power.
Would I be able to put a TJ engine in it? would I have probs trying to get it through the rego department?
Also what else could I do to it so I can beat the V8 ford's and Holden's, even some jap sports cars? lol.
any advicce would be great.
and the cost too.
Thanks.

Im afraid unless you got a whole lot of $$$ the 3.5 conversion is a no go
the engine is actually mounted the opposite way around in the tj. so it becomes a little tricky
i do understand there is a 3litre mivecs engine that suits the way the tr/ts is mounted. I could and may be wrong but im pretty sure about the tr-tj conversion

Firstly, what do you already have in the car?
Is it a 3.0l V6?
If so, this is the SOHC 12v 6G72 3.0l V6, rated at about 120kW
You can replace this with a DOHC 24v 6G72 3.0l V6 rated at about 160kW
This motor bolts in, gearbox lines up etc. Will need new power steering lines, new air con hoses, new radiator hoses.
And you'll need the ecu and wiring loom for the motor.
Note: This is the NON-MIVEC version. The MIVEC is suited to the TE+ shape (96 onwards) not the TR/TS shape

the mivec engines are the 2nd gen way around.
you could also tink about hte V6 upgrade if you have a 2.6 or the 24v DOHC V6 conversion like Killbilly did

Thanks for that advice.
The engine you speak about is it from the TE modle?

Does the Turbo GTO motor fit in a 2nd gen? or only the NA version?

Thanks for that advice.
The engine you speak about is it from the TE modle?
No it's from the Japanese/US Diamante (their version fo the Magna) and the 3000GT/GTO
As far as the turbo one is concerned...I dunno if there is ample room for the piping etc, the motor would bolt in for sure, as it's the same as the non turbo block wise. But in regards to piping and room, Im not sure.

if I put the DOHC 24v 6G72 3.0l V6 rated at about 160kW in my car.
Would I be able to super charge it? and what mods would I need to do for it to handle the super charger?
I have a 2.6 in it now.

You could supercharge it or turbo it if you wish. How you go about that I dont know, I havent done that to mine.
Oh yeah sorry, since you're a new member you might not know, I did the conversion from the SOHC 12v to the DOHC 24v n/a in my TR. As far as I'm aware, I'm the only running example of this conversion in the country, so for a supercharged version, you'd be the first.
There is a TT DOHC 24v in Victoria, it's still in pieces and hasnt had the pipework done etc and it was converted from a 2.6l 4cyl astron II. New engine mounts etc etc.
EDIT: Didnt see your part about the 2.6
You'll need to move the left hand engine mount, and change across to the V6 parts (Madmagna knows exactly what's required). Which will mean you need an engineer's certificate to approve of the mods.
As for containing the power of a DOHC 24v, N/A you wont have problems unless you have crap tyres (from experience lol). Supercharged, I imagine you'll be churning tyres aplenty.
