I have been watching closely what mods people have been doing. The gains are rather small, unless you want to spend some big dollars on a turbo or supercharger.
So I did some research and thought the mivec might be a better option.
The trouble is there is not much information available on the mivec, I can't seem to find anything.
So from what I gather New Zealand has these motors? Am I correct?
I work with a company which imports allot of stuff between New Zealand and Australia in shipping containers. There could be the possibility of me importing one of these motors at no cost  but hey, I can't find anything anywhere about it so I'll stop dreaming
depending whether u want to convert it to a manual or leave it as a tiptronic,
is leaving a tiptronic would be realiatively cheap to do, prob $4--- or so
as i wanted to bolt on my manual box need a complete new ecu to be able to run the mivec and the engine, $1700 or so for the computer then more for installation and tuneing

the only way i would want to convert a magna to a MIVEC is with a TE/TF exec... and use a complete aftermarket computer.... the magna wiring is stupidly complex and would probably need to be completely replaced anyway

I have a KF Verada and I would like to leave it as auto. It just costs far to much to convert, and the automatics in the magna I think are pretty good anyway.
well the auto/ triptronics go pretty good, so all you'd have to do is wire up the ecu from the mivec front cut :D

The KF Verada does not have the tiptronic. You can still pull it up and down the gears though, it works well. Once I save up a bit I might look at this project. Sounds like fun.
How long have they been producing the motor for? Will you find it in there late model cars (last few years?)
no the mivec comes with the tiptronic so that would just bolt into your car
and that way u can use the ecu from the half cut
u might have to go after market if u wanna use your auto
how would you go about getting one? does anyone know any jap dismantelers or would we need to import from japan?
obviously you would want to do a full rebuild before you put it in the car?
im SERIOUSLY considering this for my TE if everything will bolt up and wireup, ill do it as soon as i have the money :)

anyone know what the engine designation is? eg, 6g7?? and it ONLY fits into the TE? not TJ at all? did they only come with the Diamante's or other models as well?

thats it? surely it must have some sort of prefix or something to indicate that its DOHC and Mivec?
what cars it come with?
yer its a DOCH MIVEC 6g72
comes from the diamante

Why would you rebuild? Probably a waste of money. Most jap motors have around 50k on them, just worn in. Just change the oil and filter and away you go. I've never had a problem and I've done a couple of conversions.
good point actually, im thinking its gonna come with 200k totally forgot you can only move 5ft at a time in japan :D
still after some details tho :)

this seems to be a RB26DETT head on a RB30 block type of thing, so
here is what I would think.
6G72 = 6 cylinder, 72mm bore
6G74 = 6 cylinder, 74mm bore. (can someone post info on exactly what the engine codes mean?? What the Hell is a G?)
on the 6G72, you shouldn't have a problem fitting the head. the problem will be with controlling the Mivec to switch on. A VTEC type controller might be able to do this for you.
You then have fuelling issues (ie not enough at high revs) so you need an aftermarket computer (e-manage etc) to add extra fuel into the engine once the Mivec switches to the more agressive cam profile.
Best way to go is a direct swappie for the Mivec Engine & computer I guess. You have to deal with the wiring mess.... if not a TE. If you already have an e-manage, or a way to add extra fuel into your engine, you might try a standalone VTEC-type controller.
on the 6G74, you have a wider bore. I am totally unsure of stud placement on the head between the two engines, but AT A MINIMUM, you would need to have the head chambers enlarged 2mm or so to make a decent job of it. While you are at it, get the thing ported and bench-flowed. There may be oil and water gallery issues, like them not lining up.
This is not meant to be mechanical advice, just ideas on what MIGHT need to be done. I will stand corrected on it.
