Hi everyone
I've been reading various threads to get some info on a problem I had, driving my girlfriends TN Magna Executive Auto (1988) back to Melb. from Sydney the other day. It's a carbie model & I had experience driving both EFI & carbie model TN's new back in 1989.
On accellerating up hills, the car completely died in the bum, but was happy to sit in 4th as long as I didn't kick down. I continued on but the problems just got worse....to cut a long story short...I couldn't see any evidence of tranny fluid on the dipstick, but had some in the boot so added about 250ml...but the problems just got worse. After allowing everything to cool down,... I managed to climb the hill at Lakes Entrance...but started to notice I had lost some gears...I only had 2nd & 3rd (I think!!!).
I made it back home (thank God!!) but have left the car out the front. I am waiting to get a service manual before I touch anything. I'm hoping that a Transmission flush will fix things but would appreciate any advise from those of you more experienced.
Thanking you.
