a mono block would be good, especially for low frequencies, i'm shopping for one now, if you find any good ones, let me know

the mtx monoblocks are pretty good but it's more expensive then the one you've chose,

yeah im kinda looking for a small budget and this one has 450WRMS for only 260 delivered.

But if i do find a good amp ill let u know

By the way does anyone here work at JB HiFi or knows someone who can give me some proper advice on their products in store as i would like to buy my stuff in a pack and save some money, without being rolled like i got today with a quote.

nsitu could u give me the address of that garys car audio
as that looks like a good price for alpine stuff

though if i can find out if that Tower Audio place has the amp that will suit the Sony or another that they have that would be better i would try them as 50 bucks off could be enough to be in the $500 budget.
Thanks

i'd stay away from sony subs, my cheapo boss sub sounds better :bowrofl: . With a budget of $500 you could easily go to strathfield and get a decent amp + sub combo.
My advice is listen to a few subs, find hte one you like the best, then find an amp accordingly.

Jaycar/response are probably the best value for money gear around. If you're on a $500 sub/amp budget then I'd recommend them. Especially if you're looking to buy brand new.
You'll get some nice clean power out of them. What's the RMS of the sub ur buying? I'm not a big fan of sony's car speakers/subwoofers, but that's an ok price for something new.

Best bet would be a monoblock in theory. But if you go the response you can easily upgrade to a monoblock later on when the funds become available and you'll have a nice amp for frontstage. I'd do it. Cos if you went a cheapo monoblock now ul get sick of it anyway (no doubt ul get sick of the response too, but with the budget it would be a definite improvement.

forgot the number, but it's in high st. preston. to get there just go down high street and coming from the city it's about a block of 2 infront of the preston market.

i think the price includes box as well

Dont get a response amp, well not yet because the 2005 range is coming out with more power to burn.....
2x 150WRMS or 1x 450WRMS is boosted to 2x 200&something WRMS or 1x 610WRMS  and all the other amps are increasing in power with rumours of a monoblock later 2005 early 2006. Get a small 2 channel amp cheap for now that can run your front stage later.

It surprises me that Sony aren't getting any cred. I have no idea about their car audio equipment, but I reckon their home audio is kickass.

Well since all the responses about the Sony subs not being all that good as they seem, does anyone have any suggestions on what other subs i could choose from that arent way too expensive for me.

What about Pioneer 800watt ones.
As im kinda new in the sub, amp department it like to get as much info as possible so i dont get rolled and talked into some crap system by some salesman. So any advice will be more then welcome.

Thanks

again im gonna have to go with alpine type S $150 for 12" i think from memory. was an awsome sub. and i have 2 now of the same sort and are even better. i think its around $220 ish in a box but if u pick up a 2nd hand box, even cheaper.

DLS and Eclipse are also good, in my opinion but im sure other ppl have other ideas!

Go for either Alpine Type "S" or Eclipse Subs. I also have 2 Tyoe "S" and are happy with them for their price. Stay clear from Sony.

yeah it was kind of an impulse buy the sub cost a bit more as the guy said the amp was a 2ohm one and it could run 2 type s subs but i only wanted 1 as dont want to kill too much boot space and a different one was another 60 bucks which he says is a dual 4ohm one which i can use this amp for.

Well to tell u the truth the real price would have been $599 for the amp

But it happened to be the last one they had and was a display one that was never used, so the price for it was $329 (lucky ME) as it puts out around 350WRMS.

Wish they were all at the same price, though i got real lucky with this amp. Sometimes impulse buying pays off.

Anyone know what size in litres this box needs to be, cant wait to get the materials and engrave ////Alpine or the 3 diamonds on it and cover it in something nice.

Thanks

Can help you here.

1 cubic feet = 28.3168466 litres

Your sub = 0.85 to 1.5CU Ft = Averaged = 34 Litres (Sealed)
Your sub = 1.25 to 2.0CU Ft = Averaged = 43 Litres (Vented)
