ok i just screwed up, changing the old tyre for my new rim i managed to brake one of my bolts/studs whatever coming from the hub now i only have 4 instead of 5  i feel like a fool dunno why it was so hard to get off

so how safe would it be for me to bolt on 4 of the studs til i can get this fixed?

ok, not safe at all.... i suggest that you go to an autobarn, mitsubishi dealer, autopro etc in the morning and get one. they are not hard to replace and dont take long.

replace asap, but u should be right with 4 bolts remember most honda, nissans etc still have only 4 studs so ya should be right.

the lugnut was probably rattled on for too long on ur last service or what ever, those guns have alot of torque.

as above. from memory they only cost about $2.50 to $3. not to worry about driving, i snaped one and drove from box hill to frankston and then from frankston to druin(quite a few km's) and the wheel didn't come off. if you are getting your mechanic to do it, get them to check the rest of them too. that way it saves you breaking another one later down the track(when i took mine in, they had to replace another 4 of them  )

cos no one else has said it, HA HA :P

to get the old broken one out, remove the hub/disc and place it on the ground and belt the stud thru from the outside side to the brake side, it will pop out and fall onto the ground then turn it over and tap the new one in. probably best to rest the hub/disc on wood so that it doesn't get dammaged on the cement, getting the thing off the car is another thing, it will be explained in any gerorys manual and doesn't take all that much longer than replacing the stud.

thanks charade

yeh i kno other cars have 4 studs and still drive, but arel ighter and engineered to only need 4 studs, either way repco and auto one around me do not stock new studs coz they are gay (the guy at auto one basically said no one would stock them when i asked if there was another palce around)

will goto mitsu tommoz might have to drive there tho :doubt:

You will be right to drive on 4 bolts for a trip to the dealer but don't push your luck and drive around on 4 for 6 months or something lol

This is what happens when people use rattle guns to tighten wheel nuts. Torque wrench is the only way to do this properly
