my 2 pioneer 12's seems to just not work on a certain frequency bass anymore

ive used a bass tester and worked out its round 80 hertz that it just does not work ......... i know its a high frequency and therefor shouldnt be heaps loud but this is barely detectable ............ on 90 hertz its really soft and has a slight crackle or distortion in it aswell ....

any thoughts whats happen or how i can fix it ? ....... buy better subs maybe /

They might be half cooked....

I dunno how you are running them, but if you are using the Amp's LPF (corssover), then you possible have fried that too. Big chance if it has been running hard with a clipped input.
They are fixable sometimes (could just need a replacement coil or capacitor to fix).

My suggestion:

1) Grab another sub (and box) and try running it with your amp. Same problem - it's the amp.

2) Also try your sub on someone else's amp. It it's replicated there, it's the sub.

3) If it's on both (also possible), then get out your wallet. It's gunna hurt bad

Could be your amp or deck playing silly buggers, Like monsta just said, Its a process of alimination, check subs then amp then deck in that order...

FORGOT THIS

MOST LPF's on MOST amps (the simple switch on, switch off types) run at 80Hz and below, so if you have one of these, it isn't surprising that your 80Hz & above is muddy.

If you have a variable LPF, lift the frequency to 120+Hz and re-try it.
If it's better, then that's your problem. If it's the same, again could be sub or the LPF, and as stonesour points out, could be your deck. Check your EQ as well.

Maybe you have turned on the High Pass Filter to the output. I installed a deck once that had both LP and HP on the same line output that was adjustable 80Hz, 100Hz and 120Hz and is used to filter out low frequencies. Just a thought!

Yeh check your amps channel settings, my amp allows you to tune between 5-250hz. Make sure its on Low frequency and set the frequency to 80 and see if this helps, i actually have mine set to 250hz, cuz i find it plays bass on older songs alot better and on newer songs it doesn't distort as quickly
