I have a Magna TJ, and according to the service manual its due for a timing belt change at 75K. How much does this cost, and any recommendations for servicing around Parramatta in NSW?

Also, how are the rear bank of spark plugs changed? I can barely see them!

Anyone installed one of those fuel saving devices?

I changed from a Charade to this car, and the comparative fuel consumption is just giving me nightmares!

75K? I thought its normally done on the 90k service. Anyway I'm sure it'll easily last 100k, so hold it off till then.

You'll be looking at least $300 for a timing belt change.

The rear band spark plugs can be changed by removing the intake plenum off. From what I hear it should take about an hour to do.

Fuel saving devices????? No idea what you mean. But the Magna's fuel consumption ain't all that bad. But then again I've never owned a small car before.

ACTUALLY - you should remember these belts are 100,000ks OR 5 years. So yeah, early Tjs are coming up for belt replacements this coming year, regardless of mileage.

Mines a 11/00 model, so I have 1 more year to go till the timing belt needs changing?

Parramatta Mitsubishi ain't bad. I've been going there for about 1 year. Used to go to Liverpool Mitsu but they were getting a little too expensive and unreliable.

Just don't go on a Saturday.

Kim from Tazzy has a Fuel star installed already for 1 year.

I'm getting mine installed on Thur.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Quick Q on the timing belt ... I bought a 2nd hand magna with 127k on it which apparently had the timing belt changed but didn't have service records ... any easy way to assess the age of the timing belt that's in it?
