And how much will it cost ? I have spent so much money on this car. I dont want to buy another one because they cost a **** load and i dont want to buy another second hand one.

Im ok at electronics and i can use a soldering iron.

depends whats wrecked with it. mine was charning the system poorly ie, on the console its supopose to sit somewherre between 12 - 16v, it was reading WAY under like 8-10v, i think the car stalled at one point too. first thing i did was remove the alt to give it a clean (didnt take it alll apart), took out the brushes and they were gone! they were about 1cm high (new brushes stick out nearly 2-3cm, got new brushes for the alt (~$40-$50) screwed it back in and has worked fine ever since, system properly charges. if your alt has done many km's could be other stuff but have a look at the brushes.

Ill take it out and have a look. The problem is that the battery light is always on and the the volts are sitting under 10V all the time. When i use the indicators, the volts drop down to 8V.

replace the bearings while your there, they get noisy over time.

I found on my Magnas that the voltage regulators die. I have replaced one on each of the 3 I have had as my daily drivers at a cost of $40 each.

I would take it to an electrician and have him "advise" you on what he thinks is wrong with it.
