yup me has replaced 2 pulleys and the idle bearings in mine to get rid of a noise (mitsubishi is a rip off for genuine bearings and pulleys!) but got a diffenrent noise now, getting another bearing replaced when the car is back on the road though, good luck with yours

Yeah i think mine has an electrical problem as sometimes when i start it it starts then cuts out about 1 second after. (weird) its like the fuel pump stops or something.
Stoped for a while when i got a new battry but now its back again.
Not sure about the noise u talkin about tho maybe its the usual magna ticking noise u get after about 60k.

I got it with 12k and its now got 28k. its only there sometimes and when you give it a big rev and back off you hear it. Sometimes at idle you can hear it too...

i've got a whole lot of high pitch belt noises, so i'm going to replace all my belts (because i don't know which one makes the noise) when i get some money. Anyway the timing belt is due in for a replacement.

Yep I reckon I have the same noise. When I got the car (2000 VR-X manual) I had it checked by a mechanic and he said that it sounded like it had a big end bearing noise. Everyone else I have shown it to has said that it is nothing like a big-end bearing noise. They even showed me one and I agree, it's not that.
I get it after driving for about 20 minutes, and I stop and keep the engine running. It's like a loose tappet in the rear bank, but near the front (belt end) of engine. Like a tap, tap noise. It's not there all the time, but the frequency of it would indicate to me that it has something to do with the cam. The dealer I bought it from had no idea. They changed the oil and gave it a 'lifter treatment'. Which did nothing. The local Mitsubishi dealer just scratched his head.
I have given up trying to get it looked at. It doesn't seem to affect the running of the car. I will wait until the timing belt gets changed in about 25k (I have 75k atm), and ask them to look for something then.
Good luck. If you do get a conclusive answer please let us know.
cheers,
David

I have the exact same problem with my 2001 Manual Sports. If you take it past 3,000rpm and back off you can hear it. My mates reckon its cool cause i kinda sounds like a ****ty blow off valve

Well despite what u guys are saying, i dont thnk i have that noise. The only noises I get ar when its cold, the engine ticks for a bit till its warm, and when its warm and u open up the bonnet there is this offbeat ticking sound thats quite soft. ALso when its cold and u drive off, there is this low grumble sound that goes away shortly as u pull away. I cant pinpoint what that sound is and its pissimg me off. Other than that, i couldnt be happier with an engine thats done 150kms. Doents blow smoke nothign
