Hey

my mate owns a Hyundai Accent and wants 2 10 inch subs in his parcel shelf. now i'll be making a new shelf for him out of carbon fibre and fibreglass so it will be strong enough to take the weight.
Now, seeing the subs will sorta use the boot as the box, will it still sound alright? I will be securing the new parcel shelf in to it wont rattle around but it there anyhting else i should know b4 i do it?

depends what the subs are recommended 2 b put in. U can get those free air subs that are perfect for parcel shelves, but i dont know much bout them, other than they dont need an enclosure

Yep pioneer make a few infinite baffle(free air) subs. Check with necessary ppl about regulations concerning cutting into the parcel shelf. It's illegal in most cars/states as it's a structural point. But if your willing to waive that, your subs will sound good, but never as good as you could get in a box.
Its practical considering how much space you're saving, impractical if you want to show it off as cops have an excuse to defect you...

You'll want to try and seal the boot up as much as possible.

Peace

Tim

Even better, TRY A BOX!
It will sound so much better you'll kick yourself (& HIM) :nutkick: for wasteing the time & money for the little bit of rice it'll give him.. but then, it is a Hyundai! lol

I'm about to put two 12s (my old subs) in a 3 door accent soon. I don't see the point of putting sub on the parcel shelf. free air subs sound like crap, and you also get thieving eyes peering into your car looking at the fully sikk subs. Chuck them in a box, face them upwards and port them backwards (apparently works good with hatchbacks)

What i might do is make the parcel shelf a box so he gets the good sound and the wankfactor to go. i can do anything with carbonfibre and fibreglass so i'll make it work
