New member here
I know this isnt my territory (LS1 forum member) but Im thinking of buying a magna for the missus and I know that forums are the best source of info for anyone.
What i would like to know is what the difference is between a TJ VR-X series 1 and series 2
Much appreciated

The deal is that they'll only sell you them if you own a series2 VRX.
Tried through ROH aswell (manufacturer of VRX mags) with no joy.
Buying secondhand is your only option, if you can find someone thats willing to part with em.

Correction... There is series one and two and also MY01 and MY02. Mine is the last of the series 1 but is a MY02 which gave it the nice 17inch alloys. Anyone know the Date they actually started series 2...

err OK
Thers about $7000 grand diff between the two so I might keep an eye out for an s1 and get some other 17s on there and whack some springs in and still be a couple of grand better off.
Here are some XHP Saber Machined wheels - Pretty similar i think just with outer studs

Yes parabolics with both. only 3 models. from what i remember(use to sell them) the differance between series 1 and MY02 is: 17inch alloys(was 16), 8 speaker stereo(was 4), climate control(was just air), power antenna(was manual). I think MY02 and series 2 there was no change...

must be dealer hype about not selling the 17" rims seperate i can get them from werribee and colins mitsu in melb no questions but there about $1000 with out tyres so your looking around the same price as after market rims good luck mate.keep looking till you find a manual one its well worth it.

As everyone is saying the manual box makes for a faster car.
But theres nothing wrong with the auto - just slower. If the Missus prefers auto you will find that the 5sp tiptronic is light years ahead of the 4sp auto that comes with the Commodore.
I know my Missus would not be concerned about a few tenths of a second in the 400m drag and would appreciate the versatility and smoothness of the tiptronic. It (and the traction control that only comes with the auto) also helps make the car exit corners a lot cleaner esp in the wet where wheelspin in a manual is a given if you are trying to be quick.
Bottom line if the wife is a hoon and drives hard then God bless her and go buy her a manual! But if not i would almost certainly go the tiptronic auto.

I remember reading that the series 2 had bigger sway bars front / rear as well. Also different shocks for better handling.

Well, from there we find that:
Just to let you know, there are three different TJ VRX models.
TJ Series 1 - Original build
TJ Series 1.5 (MY02) - added - 17" wheels, Climate control, 6 speaker stereo (front splits), electric aerial, added safety feature (doors unlock during accident)
TJ Series 2 - Same as MY02 + Series 2 badge on boot + digital odometer, relocated trip computer to instrument cluster.
Hope this helps! .. Manual TJ MY02 VRX
Well, my July 02 plated VR-X has digital odo, trip comp in cluster, but no series 2 badge. Must be a Series 1.75. :D
I dont know about series 1 but myo2 also has passenger airbag as well. :D

Also the Series 1 didn't have the instrumentation light up when the car started ... whereas the Series 2 does ... not sure on the later model Series 1s though ... someone check it out. I realised this when looking at a work colleagues Series 1 VRX ... and the difference from my Mum's Series II VRX
