Thanks for the previous criticism, what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.

So here it is; fully enclosed pod filter, cai, and better performance and fuel economy - although they are mutually exclusive :D

** Pic #3 added to show pickup for scoop. A friend is chasing a more professional scoop **

Where did you mount the box to the chassis?

   Excellent work mate - really looks good!!

Any chance of a pic showing where you're picking up the air from (behind the bumper I'd assume.... but a pic would help work out how you've got it setup).

Is that the K&N 'oval' pod filter you've got in there?? if so, any plans to sell a 'kit' of the air box?? I'd definetly be interested.

Very nice.

I like the idea of the resonators still in place.

Have you moved the MAF sensor to the side of the engine bay or do they come like that in the AWD?

Coz I'm in the process of putting together a TH Smoker-style CAI (which is a great design!),
but can't help thinking that having the MAF sensor so far from the throttle body could be a problem. I know RPW does it but.........

By the time the air gets all the way up to the t/b, there may be a temp. difference, which would effectively give an incorrect reading to the ECU.

Or what?

The box is made from 4.5mm acrylic. It 'free floats' as much as allows considering the 90mm rubber flex pipe feeding the cold air and the MAS. The MAS sits in the same place as it would with the panel filter box in place. That's about it. Materials cost for the box was $80ish.

Thanks for the feedback, it's really appreciated.

Finished flowing my spare throttle body, hope to put it in as soon as my local dealer gets the replacement gasket in :D

Honestly I haven't thought seriously about making more of the boxes, mind you I still have the template and know exactly what I would've done differently if I had to again.

The tough bit is the Mitsubishi emblem; I found it on the side of the road near work and knew it was 'meant to be!' :D

The acrylic is no hotter than my standard airbox was (or is in my TF), I'm still looking into a bitumen spray or similar as heat proofing. If anyone has some ideas on this please fill me in!!

I don't think of the OE airbox and scoop as a cai, I mean, the bonnet and rubber seal practically enclosed the scoop opening. At least they tried, sort of.

let me know if you ever feel like making another one!!!

I'm very interested, I would like one. This a great design. Where abouts does the pod filter sit?
