Hey everyone

my timing chain is making noises

its been looked at and adjusted but it still makes a noise on startup and now when idleing.

obviously it needs replacing and is a **** of a job. i've been quoted 500 at one place and 900 at anoter to get it done :S

does anyone know of any good reliable mechanics in the northern SA area? I live in Gawler and i've been to pearce auto repairs ($900) and ultra tune($500) so far.

btw, my car is a 2.6L TS exec.

cheers guys

timing chain is really really crap. so when i hear that, ultra tune and $500 in the same sentence thats not cool. u go to ultra tune for $500 and the thing will be rattling again within 12 months. id spend a little extra to get the job done properly. I had mine done about 14 months ago along with oil pump, all the sprockets as well as a few other little things and a service for a grand. to give you an idea mitsu quoted me at $1300 for it.

Just a stupid question/correction, wouldn't that be belt, not chain?

I thought mine had gone after only 20,000km on a new engine (which cost $1400 fitted mind you) but it turns out it's a crack in the exhaust manifold.

Check this first.
