hey all, ill be picking up a TS magna in the next month or two and i'm just wondering what some of the bad things to look for are, apart from stuff like valve seat guides, burning oil and chugging down fuel - the usual astron 2.6 traits...

dont get an auto 4 cyln :(
hear hear, dont get an auto 4cyl.
Manual 4 cyl you can get away with or auto 6 cyl, its just that the TR/TS model is around 200 kilos heavier and that sucks the juice, especially an auto.
also if you get the 4cyl, check for timing chain noise on startup and idle.
check the cv's by turn full lock left n right and driving forward/back.
ahh thats all that comes to mind atm. check the tyre tread as they can ber expensive to replace the whole set

My car idles a little bit rougher on full lock to the right (but i dont think to the left  ). Does this sound like cv's? cuz i havn't replaced them at all and i've had the car 1 1/2 years, how often do they get replaced?

I think that would be your power steering pump making noise if it sounds like it affecting your idle. Mine makes a weird noise when i full lock (this is when the car is stationary).
Does yours make the noise when your stationary or only when your moving?

try and get 1 with at most average k's for its age, less if poss, and make sure u check all service records if poss before buying so u know how much ur up for over the next couple of years cause TS's with a few more k's tend to be money pits

The car idles rough when stationary but makes no noise, i only hear the noise when moving, kinda sounds like your screeching your tyres, but i'm only going at 20km/h lol.
when you are full lock and moving, if from the wheels you hear a clicking, well i think its more of a cluttered clacking noise then it could be your c/v's.
Cv's can last like, 100,000k or something depending how well looked after they are,
Your noise sounds like the power steering pump belt, i used to have it until i tightened the belt more, now, no more noise.
