Since there was a thread about servicing i though i would start my own.
Well a few month's ago me clutch decided to pack it in although it was only 80,000km's old so this gave me the shits and i ring mitsubishi and they say for a new clutch your looking at $1200, well im ****ed what a waste I cant really sell the car with a badly slipping clutch and driving long distance's is a worry so a week later i bite the bullet and ring to book it it " oh to replace the clutch yeah that's about $1330" what the hell a week ago you said $1200 oh naa that wasnt us yeah right i dont thinkmy memory is that bad. So there is no other option and there bastards and are going to charge $1330 so i drop my car off before they open and pick it up just before they close $1330 poorer and a new clutch its great for about 5 minutes untill it starts slipping and its pretty shitty so a few days later i take it back and they find out they didnt adjust the clutch. So 10 minutes later they fix it and up untill now the clutch has been fine. But after they worked on it my driving lights dont work anymore and some other electrical equiptment , so i look under the bonnet and hours of work i put into an electrical harness had just been ripped out since they had to move the motor to put the new clutch in , so rather then just unplugged it they ripped it out then put it back in just under the battery tray so its completely ****ed it was just easyer to rip it strait out rather then trying to fix it. so there goes about 6 hours work.
And my service before that was pretty shitty like $300 and all they did was "check fluid levels" which included oil , oil filter ,coolant , window washer bottle. After the service i check and they didnt even touch the oil , either that or they put in used oil , the filter is dirty and looks the same and the coolant is the same and all they seemed to do was fill the window washer bottle up with strait water. Not a happy customer for $300.
the only decent guy at my local mitsubishi is the spare parts guy. Mitsubishi is lucky they make good looking car's otherwise they dont really have much else going for them.

i put my magna in for service at a mitsu yard in sa
they said it needs new clutch, i thought ok since it was the original clutch had done 150 000kms but hadn't noticed any slipping
they put the new clutch in and stuff the stepper motor so it was a bitch to drive had to really rev it to stop it stalling and try not to spin the wheels
one of my wheel got coated in grease, my car was clean it came out dirty
i took it back and said clean my car and get the shit off my wheel
they didn't change the spark plugs when they were sposed which made it misfire and they fried my leads
so my car went in to service with nothing wrong
comes out with a misfire, not idling properly and filthy
i don't go there anymore!

I was going to do it untill i found out you have to remove the front suspension and drive shafts and lower the engine.
Yeah the clutch kit is around $550 but the 7 hours of labour ? i dont think that came for free

hey which one was that? i always have gone to north east mitsu for spares and help and they have never let me down and always bend over backwards to help you out..
id recommend them anyday..
i think cos they must be franchises they run under their own rules?

widowmaker its easier than it looks
the hardest park is lining the gearbox up not to hit the spring in the middle of the pressure plate other than that is is shit easy, shit mine has been out at least 4 times in the 6 motnhs as for the engine i hang mine off the front mount (although a jack or engine holder i more recommend) and it has no prob, it was hanging there for three weeks waiting for the fly wheel,

hey Guru
the place i went to and wasn't happy with was Southland Mitsubishi on South Road, they tried to screw me with my cordia too
I now go to a place called 'mitsi bits' or something similar at Lonsdale
and was very happy with the service
the head mechanic used to work as a mechanic at mitsubishi in the experimental garage

Nah, Rolfe. I didnt buy at Braddon due appalling sales tactics from sales manager.
I told him where I thought they were at in no uncertain terms and bought at rolfe.
Rolfe are ok, mistu sux ass though.
My 2 nd tranny is playing up already after 1000km.
Its got to be the computer.

I do all my own servicing, cant say I've had any complaints yet.
But I do know what you mean, most mitsu sales people and service people just live on the wrong side of the bed. It's a disease, and mitsu has caught it bad.

Took my car in for it's 135k service at Mitsubishi Launceston (Tasmania). Went in with nothing wrong, just for it's regular check up. Drove down to Hobart (200k's from Launceston) a few days later, and while I'm down there she starts missing, and I mean really missing, i.e couldn't get her to do more than 40 on the highway. Took her into the Mitsubishi dealership in hobart, and after waiting an hour or so got somebody to give her a quick look over, and what do they find ? Water in the engine
Turns out when steam cleaning under the engine bay they had got water in there. So they clean the water out and I leave a happier man vowing never to return to Mitsu Launceston. She runs fine for about 2 hours and then starts missing again. Can't book her in with Mitsu Hobart until the day after tomorrow, and no way I'm driving her 200K's home to launceston, so I'm forced to stay in Hobart till she's fixed. Too days later they replace the spark plug which I'm told must have been broken when it was serviced and I return to Launceston Mitsu to try and get re-imbersed for what Hobart Mitsu had charged me. And what does the guy at Launceston Mitsu tell me. The water must have got in my engine when I drove over a puddle. After picking my self up off the ground as I'm laughing so hard, I get him to ring Hobart Mitsu, and I walk away with service vouchers to the value of what Hobart had charged me. Oh Joy

LMMFAO.....
I've only ever used a Mitsu service centre once, and that was for my free 1,500 kms service. Too much money, too much bullshit. Just take it to a Repco/Ultra tune/ Midas/etc.. still gets log book stamped

Widowmaker!
I reckon us two would have jobs to do, to clean up the so called "service industry"!!!! We could call Slayer to join us. He is bit of a mean mother too! :x
On more serious note - all you guys, get everything in writing. If you complain, type it, e-mail it. In writing. Get them to reply in writing. Gives you much more ammo when you take it to Dept of Fair Trading. If service people refuse to give you written responses, call DoFT immediately. Stay calm but. Scremaing makes no progress with DoFT. You want them to be on YOUR side.
Grrrrrr, I'm still grinding my teeth reading this crap about the "service". See, I have had bit similar experiences with Mitsu in Liverpool, Sydney.
Slagging is part of the industry "policy", unfortunately. I haven't received a XMas card from them.... wonder why?????

My parents liked Southland Mitsi, they did a good job, but i think an independant service man would be the better option.
mine goes thru stillwell at regency park, but thats only cause i have to but they are thick i have to explain to them that many times what i want done, its stupid...
anyway quick question, should i take my pod off and put my original stuff back on for my service??

Depends on whether u still have a warranty, and also whether ur taking it to a mitsu dealer or independant.
