Just saw this on the Autobarn website. Called up and they quoted me $150 for installation including wires and fuses etc. and another $150 for the sub box.
I'm not a car audio expert but it looks like a good deal to me and I wouldn't mind a bit more bass (who does?). Anybody else think it's good or is there something I don't know.
At the moment I've got a Sony MP3 HU (forgot which model) and Pioneer 6x9's with stock front speakers.
sounds like a good deal
that amp looks good, i wonder how much just for that

It looks like a good deal but i supose it all depends on how much base you want if it was me Iwould just be happy with one.
So $389 for that plus $150 to install and another $150 for the box so $689 your looking at.
mmm

total noob here regarding car audio but have some questions
the amp being advertised is a MONOBLOCK.. does that mean it's a 1 channel??? because looking at the clarion website... the model number for the amp pictured should be APA450...
http://www.clarion.com.au/Car/products/images/APA450.jpg
- Maximum Power Output 400W
- Continuous Average Power Output 200W (50W x 4 Into 4-Ohms 20Hz-20kHz)
- Typical 2-Ohm Stereo 100W x 4
- Switchable Bass Boost Control 0dB/6dB/12dB
- Adjustable 50Hz-250Hz High/Low Pass Crossover
- 4/3/2ch bridgeable mode operation
- Speaker Level Inputs
- RRP $329
the spec says 4/3/2 channel operation?? i am totally lost
BTW the subs are PA12-S
http://www.clarion.com.au/Car/products/images/PA12S.jpg
- Injected Polypropylene Titanium Coated Cone
- Single 50 m/m heat resistant Voice Coil
- Rear-Vented Pole Piece

- 600W Music Peak Power
- RRP $129
I personally probably wouldn't get that. I'm more of a second hand person. If you are on a budget, there's no point in getting two subwoofers. Anyhows, for that money, you can always find something a lot better on Caraudioaustralia or wherever. The amp would provide a decent amount of power for daily listening with those two subs...so its really up to you. As for installation and the box..if you are feeling lazy and have too much money lying around, then get them to do it. If you have a sense of adventure and like to learn new things, then do it yourself, save some money, or even put that money to better equipment. Of course, get a friend to help...they offer labour and help for free :P

For just amp and subs $150 is bloody expensive installation considering you can do it yourself in 2-3 hours. Or are you having something custom done?

remember for that $150 their gonna have 2 supply a amp wiring kit as well arnt they? and speaker cable.

depending on if you want expert stinger wires or aerpro wires, there is a rather big cost diff. I would assume they would be using an aerpro 8 ga kit...i think the installers want to get paid too :P speaker cable for a pair of subs..depending on where the amp is mounted, wouldn't be too much, considering 12ga stinger cable sells at $4/m.
DIY I SAY!

yeh ok $150 would make more sense with wiring included. Never buy an aerpro wiring kit at anywhere except Repco. Its about half the price of everywhere else!

question wouldn't one sub be enough unless you want the car to fall apart??

Well I could just install one and sell the other.
Even if I decide to get and install both, it's not like I'd be driving around with the volume at max or even near it.
