Thanks

On the engine? :bowrofl:

Engine numbers are always difficult to find - I've got no idea, never looked.

The vin is on the metal under the windscreen in the engine bay, it'll be covered in dirt probs. theres a plate with it on it, and it's done into the body as well.
And theres the engine code eg: 3.0L 6G72 SOHC 24 Valve V6

No not the VIN, the engine number. All engines have a serial number on the block somewhere.

Surely you guys used these numbers to run a stolen/wrecked check via vicroads before you bought your car!!?

I stole my car... :bowrofl:

Ur engine number should be on the front cover of your warranty book.

hah yeah you're spot on mate, it's Jules. Thought it might be you since I started trawling this forum ;-)

Dunno what the $#%^ I'm thinking getting a 4 wheeled vehicle; particularly a magna of all things.

Just got a bit sick of last winter, always being cold/wet, having to do the whole bike thing _every_ time I wanted to go out. So I'm getting old and soft and buying a car.

Been kind of buying a car for 2-3 months now. Just driving too hard a bargain I think! Auctions again tomorrow tho...

Still. I can't be that soft; I did ride a bike around parts of Europe

Awesome... Europe looks mad... Yeah Magna's are sh!tboxes I would never... lol
Definetly go a 3rd gen 3.0 v6 or 3.5 v6. You can pick them up for next to nothing. A big change from the bikes but you'll stay dry.

Auto's can be a bit of hassle so keep an eye out for a manual and you might get lucky. Besides that I've had no probs at all.

We'll have to get trashed again sometime... Im down for your next party!

So which one do you drive? What $ did you pay and when?

Gonna go auto- traffic is too **** around here; I'd never get out of first.

There'll be parties-a-coming in the warmer months, rest assured ;-)

I bought a: 1998 TF Advance sedan
Automatic
3.0 litre V6
tinted windows
towbar setup (with cover plate)
15" mitsubishi stock alloys
Dual SRS airbags
air/con, power steering, immobiliser, keyless entry, central locking, remote boot release, cruise control, adjustable (tilt) steering wheel. Lumbar support etc
No engine/body mods
165,000 odd k's on the clock
New front tyres, VG condition rear tyres
Pioneer 12 stacker
9 months rego.

For $6000. But I got it ridiculously cheap. For the same you'd probably be looking around 8-9.
I got it around 4 months ago.

I'd go a tf or above.

Yeah that's about the price I'm looking at for that car. Hence all the visits to the auctions ;-) It'll come up eventually, just need to stay patient.

Where did you buy? If not at auction, how'd you manage that price?

I bought it off my sister... Helped her out of a situation. I've still got the old bomb as well... Didnt really need another car but I couldn't pass it up.

I thought the topic here was engine numbers, I may have been wrong....

I believe on the thrid gens it is to the front of the block near the gear box housing
