Im wondering if anyone has heard these installed into a car, the specs look impressive and from other jaycar gear i've heard, their bang for buck is quite good.

http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=CS2298&CATID=&keywords=splits&SPECIAL=&form=KEYWORD&ProdCodeOnly=&Keyword1=&Keyword2=&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=

This is my first real attempt at a half decent setup im not after a comp system just decent SQ and volume. The splits will be running off a ALpine MRP-T220 V-Power amp @ 70wrmsx2. They will be teamed up with a Alpine S type 12" with a Flex 2 mrp-t 406, rated at 240wrmsx1. And the std 6x9s in a TF, running highpass off my JVC HU.

Jus after opinions if anyone has actually heard em.

I know I could buy a lot better splits, but havin a Mrs a kid and one on the way sorta limits my play money, so these are about the right price for me.

Any feedback appreciated.
Regards
Luke

You recommend these over the Response?

Only prob is they are 4" I need 6.5" for my doors in my TF.

These are another option i have but seem way to cheap to be any good.

Great on a budget!

I have them myself, very happy. You could spend a little more and get a lot better...but it becomes one of those cost vs function things, you have to draw a line somewhere.

Bang for your buck indeed.

Will be good off your amp if your after good volume. I'd say Jaycar make some of the best bang for your buck products around.

Next up would be Hertz HSK 165. Around $350 ish new and they have 200 w rms woofers.

If your after a budget system I think you're on the right track. But will you end up upgrading afterwards?

If so, don't bother with these. Go have a listen to them in store

Depends on what you want. I was mightily impressed with a set of JBL's on special at Strathfield for $225 (usually $260-270). The mid-bass really kicked hard, great for dance music.......but that's what I listen to :D

The only advice I can offer is take a CD with tracks you know well and love, and listen to that instead of the EQ boosted and compressed test CDs that they have in most stores (they make $20 speakers sound great). Try to get the same head unit running as many of the speakers as possible, and get all head units EQ's turned off or running 'flat'.

Listen to as many as you can - different brands and prices. Let your ears decide.

You usually get what you pay for, some people I know that have the Jaycars love 'em, others reckon they have reproduction problems. For $190ish I reckon they are fairly good, but go another 40-50 bux and they get so much better...

Are they 190??

**** I got mine for 142! Massive discount though, I had no idea of the RRP. Well for that price I would dish out the extra 50 bucks and go the hertz.

The Jaycar units are a great bang for your buck deal, but some people find them a bit sharp.

Personally I've got a set of Hertz ESK-165s which i bought for $220, tho i think the model may have now been discontinued (anyone know?). I love them, couldn't reccomend them highly enough.

yep pretty sure they're discontinued... hsk-165's are the go now... (they are fully black with the bullet in the middle of the woofer.

Not as refined as dynaudio's or other dedicated audiophile gear, but a very sturdy woofer that are pretty power hungry.
I have the midbasses, the tweeters are a tad harsh.

The Jaycar units have a tendency to happen to want to BLOW up while playing ‘sandstorm’ and fill you car with smoke, although I was running to much power through them. Until that point they sounded tops and I reckon they are a great bang for back speaker. I’m considering getting some to replace my stockies.

I've heard MB quartz b4, was quite impressed,
what model did you get for $190 and where from?
